Not as powerful as my old Dyson

When I first turned it on, I thought something might be wrong with it. The brush is noticeably less powerful. All I can imagine is that it has been "derated" to improve battery life.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

My apartment faces a busy avenue so each day it's very dusty. My cat and I shed a lot! I am tired of cleaning the dust and hair every day, yet now V8 absolute saved my life! My unit is small (560 sq ft) so one charge is enough for whole apartment. Best Thanksgiving gift for mothers forever!

I purchased a cordless 'animal' and I thought it was fantastic, but I was wrong. This new V8 is the greatest! I can't tell you how much time it saves me because it's so powerful, and the charge lasts a lot longer than I need it, but the accessories make it even better. I now have the 'animal' in my basement living room, and the V8 for the upstairs! I own so many Dyson products now I could be a rep for the company! I love my hairdryer as well! Way to go Dyson! You make my life less complicated! Thank you! -nancy

Buy more than one!

The new V8 is stellar. I have 2 V6's and was hoping to have the V8 for my third floor, but it is SO much better than the V6 (which is also quite good) that now I feel I may have to buy more. Much quieter, and even though the suction seems to be even better than the V6, it doesn't "suck and grip" the floor like my V6, making it much easier to push back and forth. Have not put it to the 40 minute test yet - I got tired after 25 minutes! I actually like the V6 emptying mechanism better, but that's not a big deal. I no longer use anything in my house except Dyson cordless vacs - much easier on my back.

Awesome upgrade

I bought the DC35 when it first came out in 2009 and it is still working great today. I had to clean out the motor head every month because I have 4 girls and it picks up a lot of hair. The battery still lasted close to 20 minutes even after 8 years.
Fast forward to 2017. I skipped the V6 and bought the V8. The difference between the V8 and DC35 is night and day. 40 minute battery, superior suction, much quieter, motor head does not get jammed up with hair. It seems lighter and the trigger is easier to pull. Hopefully, this last another 8 years.

Easy to use and light weight

I bought this vacuum hoping it would make my house cleaning easier. And boy has it! So glad I got this dyson! I live in a townhouse with lots of stairs. It use to take me almost 2 hours to vacuum the whole house. Now 30-40 minutes and I'm done! Best purschase ever!

Strong suction - Ease of Use - Lightweight

Originally, I hesitated to purchase a cordless machine; however, after using it just one time, I realized this machine's suction was stronger than my old canister Dyson from 7 years ago! It is incredibly lightweight and quiet, too, and is perfect for a quick pick-up or the entire house - especially easy to use on the stairs. So glad I purchased the cordless V8 Absolute!

Wish this was the first vacuum I purchased to pick up cat hair .
I have 2 long haired cats, this machine is fabulous!!! no more cat hair in the air, my carpets look so much cleaner. Just love to vacuum now!!!!
