Ease to use.

Battery life is too short for boosting. It would be nice if machine can be replaced a new charge battery or use electrical plugging to continue the cleaning work.

When running it on the max it does not last as long as I thought it would ! I like the vacuum but like I said the only downfall it doesn’t last long on max power

Great household helper

This vacuum is a must have for any household. I'm using this for more than a month now on both hardwood and carpet. Using it every single day. The performance is phenomenal. This is undoubtedly the best vacuum ( esp for hardwood). Very easy to maneuver and of course light weight.
My only complaint is about the soft roller. Right from 2nd day it is making a squeaky noise whenever I'm vacuuming( which is little annoying ). Is that something common?? I also did the one month maintenance like washing the filters and the soft roller head. The squeaky sound is still present. Also there is a crack on the plastic head of soft roller.
Seriously wish it lasts longer.

Lazy Housekeeper with Long Haired Cat, Oriental Rugs and Hardwood floors

Several weeks ago I bought the cordless Dyson V8 Absolute after a lot of research and with a lot of reservations. I was worried that it would have too little power for my cat's hair, which sticks to everything, and too much power for my small oriental rugs. Also, I was concerned that I would have to switch to the fluffy cleaner head to do my perimiter hard wood floors. I was most concerned about cat hair sticking to the rotating bristles, requiring constant cleaning, and the usual choking/clogging of the sweeper between the cleaning head and the wand. I was happy to discover that this Dyson does not allow cat hair to stick to the bristles; that it has not gotten clogged; that it works great on oriental rugs; and that I don't have to change cleaner heads when going from carpet to floor. It is the best cordless vacuum I have ever used. I am happy that I bought it and wish I would have bought it sooner.
The little bit of cat hair on the rotating bristles is so minor, it is hardly worth cleaning. The oriental rugs clean beautifully...better going forward than backward. Of course, I avoid the fringes and the corners. If it does catch the fringe or corner and pulls it in, the rotor action will stop, giving me a chance to pull the vacuum away and continue vacuuming. I have to be careful on VERY LIGHT THIN RUGS, because the suction will want to pull them in. But on the typical thin antique oriental throw rug, there is no problem. This vacuum has never clogged once. I use it whenever I see the need. I have found the 'extra suction' mode to provide more suction that I need. As a matter of fact using it on oriental rugs on the HIGH mode is unnecessary. I do dot recommend it. The suction is so strong that it pulls the carpet in. The standard power mode is perfect. Also, I like that I can use the same cleaner head on my hard wood floors, as well as where the rug transitions to the floor. The same cleaner head does a great job on my hardwood floor and DOES NOT scratch the floor. The extra tools are very nice to have. I find that I use the nozzle tool more that the others. This is an incredibly well made machine. I have never had a problem with loosing power. But, then, I am not a savage house-cleaner. I do a little at a time. Emptying the dust bin is easy. It is amazing how much dirt and fine dust it picks-up. Because it picks up more dirt that I can see when I start to vacuum, I empty it more than I think I will have to. For anyone who has ever used a cordless vac and likes the ability to go cordless, I recommend this Dyson without reservations. Is it perfect? No. Will you have to make compromises? Yes. But it is heads above anything else on the market. This is the Rolls Royce of cordless vacs. It works with my lifestyle and I love it. And my house has not looked this good for a long time!

All of the attachments are fantastic. This is by far my favorite vacuum I’ve ever owned. It picks up everything!! You’ll be shocked out how dirty your floors really are.

Nice...but

The vacuum is a nice piece of equipment. It works as advertised.
I have two main problems,
1- Is too heavy and I have to rest because my hand hurt after few minutes of use.
2- The suction is good ONLY if you use MAX. At that setting the battery life is 10-15 minutes. Then takes 2 hours to get fully charged again.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Bought my V8 about a month ago and have been very happy with it. With my old vacuum cleaner it was difficult vacuuming, I had to worry about the cord and the unit was very heavy and cumbersome so I didn't vacuum as often as I should;d. My Dyson being light and cordless and agile makes it so easy that I use it daily and my apartment has never been cleaner.
