Nice machine. But I think using on max is best in most cases. Which runs the battery down quickly

Heavy

I find that it is heavy to use with arthritic hands. The suction is not so good with use of the attachments other than for floors.

Hello Willow, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're sorry to hear that you've found the V8 cord-free model to be too heavy in your use. This machine has an operational weight of 5.8 pounds, which includes the weight of the floor tool and wand. When using as a handheld, the weight will be reduced. We're also sorry to hear that you've found suction to be lacking. Your machine offers two powerful modes of suction power - regular and MAX. While most households will find suction in regular mode sufficient for everyday cleaning, you may need to place the machine in MAX mode, to receive a boost of suction for larger messes or more stubborn debris.
We're keen to go over your machine with you and learn more about your experience, as we'd like to help ensure that your Dyson is performing properly. Please consider emailing us directly at askdysonUS@dyson.com.
Best wishes, Kelly Dyson Customer Support

Can’t handle dog hair
on October 28, 2021

I want to love this vacuum BUT I hate having to empty it every 2 mins of using it cause my dogs hair gets blocked up in the canister when it’s not even full. Therefore I have to stick my hand in the canister to pull out the extra fur out of the tube that wasn’t fully sucked in. I have a golden so I’m aware he sheds a lot but for as pricey as this vacuum is it should be able to do the job without a problem.

Hello, this is Kelly with Dyson. I'm sorry to hear that you've found it to be a struggle to keep up with the pet hair in your home, using the Dyson V8 Absolute. I can confirm that if you do have a several pets in the home, or pick up a lot of debris, dirt and pet hair, you may find that you need to empty the clear bin more often. Longer hair can tend to get trapped in the cyclone, if left to overfill. There is a max fill line on the bin, and you will want to be sure you empty it prior to any debris getting past that line. Otherwise, hair and other debris can get stuck in the upper part of the bin, which is causing the issue you're having, with needing to reach in and get debris out.
We would value the opportunity to learn more about your experience along with ensuring that your vacuum is performing as intended. Please do not hesitate to contact us at askdysonUS@dyson.com. We are keen on providing you with support.

Beater bar needs an “off” switch

I would give the vacuum 5 stars if the beater bar turned off when I need it to. The vacuum had good cleaning power, is easy to handle, is very light and compact. It is also easy to clean when needed.

The most fantastic thing Dyson has ever made

I'm sure everything else is wonderful. I have four of these cordless ones over the years but this is everything I've ever wanted. The problem of emptying the cup easily, solved; quieter, runs longer, feels more substantial, cleans better even though the others were good. I use one of my old ones on my construction site and my contractor and workers are blown away by the old one. But this one is sheer perfection as far as I'm concerned. I love this!!!

WOW. JUST WOW!

When I saw the demo, I hoped that when I got it home it worked almost as good, because sometimes on TV....stuff looks better than it works. THIS IS NOT THE CASE WITH THIS VACUUM! It works just as good as the TV demo, if not better!!! I have hardwood and carpet and it outperforms my current stand-up, plug-in vacuum! It has pulled so much stuff out of my carpet that my "big" vacuum has never been able to pull! This is the vacuum that will replace ANY vacuum you have in your home right now....and it's CORDLESS!!! Woohoo....Thanks Dyson for making such a superior machine!!! <3

Keeps getting clogged
on February 11, 2022
Posted by: HD2013
I love the majority of my Dyson products but this product is disappointing. The opening into the canister is too small and constantly gets clogged with dirt and pet hair. When this happens, the vacuum does not suck anymore and starts pulsating. The only way to get it unclogged is to open the canister and use your hand to remove the blockage.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi there, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're sorry to hear that you're having issues with your V8 Animal clogging so frequently. One great feature of our cord-free machines is how modular they are, which makes them fairly simple to troubleshoot and resolve any ongoing issues. With regard to the dust bin, you'll always want to ensure that the bin is emptied before debris is able to fill past the max line on the side. Any time debris is able to fill past this spot, it can wind up getting trapped in the upper portion of the bin. The bin can completely remove, however, for ease of emptying or getting any debris out of the bin completely.
We would value the opportunity to go over your machine with you and help to make sure that it's performing as intended. Feel free to get in touch with us via email at askdysonUS@dyson.com.

Vaccuming made messier and more time consuming

This thing clogs after cleaning a 6x8 carpet in a home with 1 small short-hair cat. The dust flies everywhere when I open the hatch and there is invariably dust stuck up around the top of the canister that I have to pull out by hand. Or I can release the whole canister, which is already dusty from opening the hatch. You can't just take off the canister, which would probably be less messy, you have to open the hatch at the bottom first which makes the handle and everything you touch dusty. Gross gross gross. The charge lasts for 2 rooms (13x15) max, but I have to stop multiple times to empty the nasty canister. I feel like I need a shower after I vacuum. The furniture attachment stopped working after a year, but we were able to take it apart, fiddle around and get it working again. There's no way to just turn the vacuum to on, you need to hold the button the whole time, which is a bit tiring. But mostly, I hate this vaccum because it's dirty, inconvenient and the suction isn't as good as my corded Kemore. Why or why did I give it away? It had such better suction, lasted indefinitely and wasn't dirty. It was just bigger, which since my apartment is small was unideal. But unideal is 1000x better than horrible. I loathe this vacuum. It makes me angry every time I use it.
