My first experience with Dyson was completely by chance. I purchased a new travel trailer and it came with a Dyson v6. turns out that was one of the best features of the unit. Using the Dyson for a full season at camp sold me on the brand and i decided to splurge on the v8 when it became available. I have used bagged canister vacuums<upright bagless and even have a whole house vacuum. The new Dyson showed me what I was truly missing.I really was living in a fools paradise thinking I was doing a good job of getting things clean and tidy. Was i wrong on that account. I wound up vacuuming my bedroom 4 times before i was satisfied that I had most of the dirt out of the carpet. My old systems left boatloads of crud behind. The first 2 times the canister filled with pet hair that was buried in the rug. the third and fourth runs pulled up so much dust and dander that I was grossed out. The Dyson v8 is a cleaning monster. I love it. I read one complaint that it doesn't run a full 40 minutes. It doesn't if you run it on the max setting but is great for 20 minutes on that setting or 40 minutes on the regular setting. I would trade a long running time for the power and efficiency of this machine any day. Dyson makes a great vacuum that is cordless so I use it often. I would rather clean each room well and quickly than drag hoses and cords around. Time is money as they say. Perhaps the only thing I might change is the release to open the canister. You Pull up on a red handle to open the canister to dump the waste. When I did this the first time I was afraid i would break it because you have to pull up that hard on it. This might not be the perfect machine for an elderly person for that reason but if you pull hard it does indeed open and when closed it seals really well. Keep up the good work and i will be back for more of your products.

Couldn't be happier with the Dyson V8 Absolute!
So easy for quick clean ups and really holds a charge.
Use it on my tile, hardwoods and area rugs and the Westie dog hair is removed instantly. Superior pick up and so quiet that my hubby hardly notices even while watching golf! Now that's truly amazing!
I also have the animal big ball, but this handy powerful v8 gets more floor time because it's just so easy to use and lightweight too. The dust cup is small but that is so easy to empty that it is a non issue with me.
Highly recommend Dyson products!

Exactly what I expected

We’ve owned a Dyson upright for over a decade. It’s been effective and rock solid reliable. But we have animals, and wanted to touch up the rugs and clean up litter from a messy cat. This really fits the bill. It’s light, has great suction, and a range of attachments to tackle a variety of tasks. Including extracting fine dog hair from the cargo area of our SUV. Best of all it’s easy to change attachments, easy to empty, and a cinch to store and charge.

Very easy to use. Great pickup and perfect assortment of tools. I thought 40 minutes might be too short, but is enough. I was amazed at how much dirt was in the cup. Love it.

We like the convenience of our Dyson V8, but the battery life is extremely short and very disappointing.

Hi Tommy, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're happy to hear that thus far in your use, you have found the V8 Absolute to be so easy and convenient to use around your home. With regard to the battery life, you do have two suction modes of power to your machine - regular and MAX. Most people will find that regular suction provides enough power for everyday household cleaning, and that generally speaking, MAX can be reserved for more stubborn messes or even larger debris.
In MAX mode, suction is boosted, which will result in much less run time on a full charge - about 7 minutes. With regular suction mode, you can expect 30-40 minutes of run time, depending if a motorized tool is being used. We're keen to learn more about your experience to provide support. Please feel free to reach out to us directly at askdysonus@dyson.com.

Hello Luke, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're glad to hear that you've been pleased thus far with the suction that your V8 provides. Our V8 models provide two powerful modes of suction power - regular and MAX, and up to 40 minutes of run time to tackle any cleaning task in your home. It's unusual to hear that you've had a piece break more than once. Dyson cord-free machines are made from polycarbonate ABS - the same material used in riot shields and crash helmets. They are tough, so we subject them to hours of testing, including drop and impact tests. Dyson machines are built to withstand years of residential household use: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3iXRFizaz8. In our testing process, we really put our machines through their paces to ensure that they're built to last.
