Being in the midst of a unique situation, I hope my review will be helpful to others who are temporarily or even permanently disabled or somehow physically limited. I am 68 years old and being treated for breast cancer, and after two surgeries I am now 2/3 of the way through my chemo treatments. Among other side effects, I have stamina and fatigue limitations I never had before. Having this Dyson V8 Absolute has allowed me yet another way to have some control and to be able to do some things I otherwise could not do right now.
The V8 is lightweight and easy to use. My use was limited to 10-15 min at a time, but I could do quite a bit in those sessions as I was wasting no time or energy with pulling cords around or pushing and pulling a heavy vacuum. With my V8 I have vacuumed bamboo and Marmoleum hard floors, carpeting, rugs, carpeted stairs, under the refrigerator, baseboards, ceilings, and my car! I have done this over the course of several days, but I have done it myself.
Changing attachments is literally a snap! Push the attachment and it goes in; push the red button and pull, and the attachment comes off! And there is a really good variety of attachments that come with the V8, the most different being the hard floor soft roller cleaner head. It was a little hard to maneuver at first because of its little swivel roller, but that got easier the more I used it. It is wonderful how it can twist and go under many pieces of furniture - sofa, bed, chairs - and fit in smaller areas, too, simply because I could also lift it to maneuver it back in those areas.
The mini motorized tool reached right to all inside edges of the stairs and was pretty easy to handle on the vertical parts, esp since I could quickly switch hands and work from the middle each way. That did get a little heavy for me, even without using the tube extension, but I don't think it would normally. The same tool was great when cleaning my car except for harder to access areas where other tools were used and did well.
The noise level was quieter than I had expected at the high suction speed which was most evident when I occasionally switched to the max suction. Oh, and the max was most useful so far in certain areas of the car and for cleaning off the dusting attachments after grabbing a few unexpected cobwebs!
I am obviously thrilled with the Dyson V8! The only things I think would be nice additions would be 1) 'cruise control' of sorts on the trigger because my finger would start getting tired of constantly holding the trigger, and 2) a 10-12" extension piece that could swivel to help reach some car areas and also give just enough more length sometimes for other uses. Maybe this one can be an add-on attachment in the future!!

Easiest vacuum to use EVER

Very happy with the product. Only negative feedback is that the "exhaust air" blows in the user's face when vacuuming things above waist level, and high price.

Can't be beat!

I bought this vacuum as a gift to my mom after happily owning the same model for about 5 years. My vacuum is working as good as new and I'm so excited for her to enjoy the vacuum as well! I have to comment on the EXCELLENT customer service of the Dyson team. I purchased the vacuum online from the website directly and was able to choose from several delivery days to choose one that worked with my schedule. I was able to order the vacuum and have it set up and ready to go in my mom's home in 48 hours. The quality of the product and added bonus of expediency just can't be beaten! Very happy customer.

Battery life improvement

Great vacuum but battery last only like 10 minutes when I use max suction, for such expensive vacuum, not too happy with that overall it been great

Your vacuum, while smaller, lightweight and cordless, can still pack the same power as a corded vacuum cleaner. This will all be thanks to the powerful V8 motor which spins at 110,000rpm, providing you with powerful suction. The V8 Absolute also includes a direct drive motorized brush bar, which is designed to provide up to 150% more brush bar power than previous cord-free models.
Dyson V8 Absolute also features two suction modes; MAX and standard. Please keep in mind that the V8 offers plenty of suction on normal power to effectively clean your floors because of the motorized brush bar. MAX power is really only needed for tough cleaning jobs. MAX power will provide you with about 7 minutes of run time, making that mode ideal for more stubborn messes and larger debris. Regular suction is generally more suitable for everyday household cleaning. That mode also provides 30-40 minutes of run time, which may vary if using a motorized attachment.

What an amazing tool! We have a Siberian Husky - no explanation needed. This vacuum does the job. It has all the great features - lightweight, great suction, cordless, bagless. Can reach narrow places easily, unlike clunky uprights. Highly recommend.

Great Vacuum!

The battery does last 40 minutes so that a plus, but the V8 doesn't seem to be as powerful as the V6 Motorhead. Guess we had to give up a little power to get the extra 20 minutes. Overall it's a great vacuum and does the job.

I just recently bought the Dyson V8 Absolute and I am so impressed with it the suction is amazing and it is so lightweight I don't mind doing the steps I also love the attachments that come with it, I can vacuum my hardwood floors with ease. It is so easy to switch attachments so going from hardwood floors to carpet to changing the attachment in just a second two to vacuuming the furniture I absolutely love this machine.
