If only

This v8 absolute works great on mykitchen floor, but as soon as i try it on my plush rug, it stops. Every time!!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi there, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're so happy to hear that in your use, you've been so pleased with the performance of your Dyson V8 Absolute on your kitchen floors. V8 Absolute features two cleaner heads; one with a spinning brush bar which can be used on carpets, area rugs and hard floors, along with a fluffy soft roller head which was specifically engineered for use on hard floors.
One thing I can confirm is that Dyson cleaner heads do feature a sensor inside of the brush motor which is designed to stop the brush from spinning if too much tension is felt on the motor. We do recommend regular routine maintenance of the cleaner head to help ensure optimal performance from your machine. This issue can also occur on plush carpeting or area rugs which aren't fixed down to the flooring underneath. The brush bar can sense the carpeting as an obstruction, which stops the brush bar from spinning and will shut off the machine to prevent the brush bar motor from overheating.

Exactly what I needed

This was the answer to my problem. I have a small office and just to be able to grab this and do a quick vacuum in the morning is exactly what I needed. No lugging the larger vacuum with cord around. I LOVE IT!!!!

Surprisingly efficient

Wife is very pleased with this surprise gift. She'd been hinting about wanting one. It has great suction and and easy to empty. I chose this over the v10 because if the vertical dump canister. Makes dumping simple. Only draw back is it has to be dumped so often as it can only hold about 2 inches of debris. So carpet lint fills it up fast. Haven't used it long enough to rate run time. Hasn't gone dead on us yet. It can stay plugged in without ruining the battery as some rechargeable item warn against.

This is our second Dyson, had a V6 before and broke it. This is a great vacuum and much improved over the previous model. Better battery life, better head for hardwood floors, quieter.

Simplicity of use and convenience are the by-words of this vacuum. Changing out heads and attachments is a breeze. While there is a Max power setting, the regular setting cleans every bit as good as our corded Dyson. The convenience of not dragging acad around with you is an added bonus. So easy to use we find ourselves getting it out much more often for small cleanup jobs. Vacuuming our 2 sets of stairs is also a lot easier with this Dyson. Love it!
