Love Cordless

I have been using my new Dyson V8 for a couple weeks now and I am in love. You have to switch over settings as described in booklet or you run out of battery but once you do that you are set. I have a small house and two big hairy dogs that constantly shed. It does the job just fine and no cord. Picks up hair that my older Dyson Animal did not. I am in love.

GREAT VAC & GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE

I Purchased this VAC as I already had the V-6 and loved it. Had some issues with the V-8 Called Dyson support and they worked with me on the problem I had. Very knowledgeable support and even though we could not resolve the issue Dyson stepped up and replaced my unit with no hassles. This is what I expect from a company when I buy a high end Vac. Kudos to Dyson!!!!

House never felt clean

I wanted to love this product, but unfortunately it just didn't hold up to more bulky, but stronger vacuums. Used it for about 6 months and then bought a traditional drag along model and haven't looked back. The V8 had poor suction and just wasn't cleaning the house well enough. Maybe there are better Dyson models out there, but this one just wasn't worth the money and poor results. Give me function over hype any day of the week. Lesson learned.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello Adam, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're sorry to hear that you haven't had a better experience thus far with your V8 Absolute. Your machine offers two suction modes of powerful suction, as well as two cleaner heads to pick up any size mess, on any flooring type. Your vacuum, while smaller, lightweight and cordless, can still pack the same power as a corded vacuum cleaner. This will all be thanks to the powerful V8 motor which spins at 110,000rpm, providing you with powerful suction, making our cordless machines the most powerful cordless vacuums. The brush bar in your direct drive cleaner head also provides up to 150% more power than previous models.

We would value the opportunity to assist with your machine, to help ensure your Dyson is working properly. Please feel free to contact us directly at askdysonUS@dyson.com.

Best wishes,
Kelly

Fuss-free cleaning
on December 11, 2017

My first impression was that it was too quiet to effectively clean. Then I realized it was picking up dirt and debris more effectively than my much heavier vacuum cleaners - one for floors and one for carpets - with big-name brands. Everyone in the house loves using this vacuum cleaner because it's quiet and convenient.
Battery life: I have a 960 square foot house with a mix of carpet (20%) and hardwood floor (80%) and find there's plenty of battery life to vacuum the house, do some quick dusting and still have plenty of life left over. I've never run out of power.

I have had my Dyson doe 2 years and I love it! So light weight and easy to use on everything from carpet, floors, furniture. Powerful for a cordless vac, and the attachments are so easy to change up.

Good Vacuum but hasn’t lasted with daily use

I purchased my Dyson a little over two years ago and use it on a daily basis. Initially it performed wonderful but time and use have taken a big toll on the unit. In those years I had to replace the battery and purchased at least a dozen filters. Additionally, trigger guard has fractured and broken off. I vacuum the 1st floor of our house (~1000 sqft) every morning before our grandkids arrive, typically switching between normal and maximum. At this point, I am on the verge of having to replace the battery again but will probably just run it until it brakes.
I would recommend this unit if you’re intending it for light use. The suction in the max mode is very powerful and effective.

Hello Dan, this is Kelly with Dyson. Thank you for taking the time to share your review of your V8 with us. We're happy to hear that you've found this machine so easy and convenient to use, that you can use it every day. I have this same model and find it so easy to grab it and pick up messes quickly, or give my whole home a quick sweep!

While we wouldn't expect the battery to need replacing so frequently, the battery can degrade over time. The machine will naturally lose its run time but the level of degradation over the years is very small. Battery degradation is not a fault of the machine. It happens to all batteries in everyday items, such as mobile phones and laptops. If you find yourself using the MAX suction mode a lot, or are charging the machine while it's still warm, that can contribute to premature degradation.

With regard to the filters, it is surprising to hear that they have needed to be replaced. Both pre and post-motor filters are washable, and actually should be cleaned every month. We do have many owners that will purchase another set of filters, so they can swap that out right away and continue using the vacuum while the other set is drying.

We are happy to go over your machine with you to help with any questions you may have, as well as to assist with ensuring your machine is performing as intended. Please consider emailing us directly at askdysonUS@dyson.com. We look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes,
Kelly

Cordless yet very effective

We initially purchased a Dyson V6 via a recommendation from a friend. The product was extremely well engineered from the quick dock/charge down to the ease of filter changes and cleaning. We loved the V6 so much that we stepped up and bought a V8 also. The V8 made some changes to things like the catch bin. On the V6, the bin works well but sometimes hair, dust bunnies, etc will get caught up around the top of the filter; not a big deal with a tap or a finger but the V8 redesign corrected that as the entire assembly drops down and more easily clears the catch bin. As with any battery powered device, you want more battery life but the design, suction power (including turbo mode), and ease of use offsets the need for a longer battery life. We picked this over other options including a corded stick vac. Definitely recommend buying one of these...if you're squeamish about the front end cost, get the V6...it works very well too.
