Picks up dirt you didn't know was there!

I love my Dyson, it picks up dirt and debri that you could not see as well as the items you can. The attachments allow you to clean virtually all surfaces and ot very light. I am beyond pleased with its performance.

A worthy upgrade over my DC-35 cordless stick

I am very impressed with the improvements in the V8 Absolute as compared to my old Dyson DC-35 cordless stick vacuum. The V8 is very quiet even on the high setting. The trigger is much easier to operate (requires less force). And the suction power is fantastic. I can pick up more fine dust and hair. It's also very maneuverable and light-weight enough for comfortable use.
The V8 is best if you mostly have hard floors (which we do). The direct drive cleaner head works extremely well on our rugs, but it does use up the battery faster. Since we mostly have hard floors, this is not an issue. However, if you mostly have carpeted floors you might want to consider a corded vacuum or else just plan to use the V8 for occasional cleaning on carpets.

Mostly replaced my upright Dyson

Just retired a 12 year old Dyson Animal and I also have a Dyson Ball Animal that is a few years old. The V8 is so much more convenient to use due to the lighter weight and no need to unwrap and wrap a cord.
The charge lasts long enough to do all the cleaning I need and the V8 is relatively quiet at the lower power setting.
The bin collector is a bit small, but that goes with the territory with something this small and light.
There are a few changes/upgrades I would love to see. 1) the ability to swap batteries and have a spare. 2) a way to lock the trigger so that it doesn't need to be constantly held during use. 3) when in use, the weight of the V8 tends to push against the thenar space between my thumb and index finger, creating pressure and discomfort. Giving this area a more ergonomic shape and/or adding some padding there would make it more comfortable to use.
Otherwise, I am very satisfied with the V8 and I am almost...almost over the high cost of entry. My only worry right now is the battery not holding a charge after a couple of years of use. Time will tell.

EASE OF USE

I purchased this machine 3 days ago and I like that it's so light and has a long handle which makes it easy to use. I have a bad back and this is why I was attracted to this vacuum cleaner. It also cleans both carpet and bare floors well. However the down side is that the charge doesn't last long, not even an hour so you are unable to finish cleaning a large house without recharging and this takes a while. Also you must keep your finger pressed on the power button while you are vacuuming. When you remove your finger the machine shuts off.
