Great Cordless Vacuum!

Love this vacuum! Works great on my whole house tile floors with four dogs. The only thing wrong is the plastic around the roller gets very dirty and needs to be cleaned often. Other than that....it is wonderful!!!

Overall, great machine but with a couple of quirks

I have read and seen so much advertisement about Dyson that I decided to invest the money in one, hoping it will be my last vacuum for a long time. I needed cordless, plenty of suction (for pet hair), ease of use on carpeted stairs, and overall ease of use and lightweight, so I vacuum more often. I like the ease with which attachments attach and detachment. Using it on stairs is a dream. I have not tried it yet on furniture or a hard surface floor, because the charge ran out before I could try it. That being said, I wish the charge would last longer, though it does seem to last much longer than most people reviewing it say it does, even on high power. The only major complaint I have is that I could easily get a blister on my finger on my index finger, where it rests against the handle for support while holding the power button down to operate. I might wear a glove for a while, until I get used to it. Buyers should be aware that the vacuum will not operate unless you hold the power button down continually, and that they might experience the same discomfort as I do. It also seems that the dirt/dust accumulates in one area of the dust container, so I hope that doesn't present an issue with clogging the intake. I have no idea of it distributes itself better in the container, the more full it gets, because I empty it every time I the battery runs out of power. Overall, it is a handy, powerful machine that I hope will give me incentive to use more often than my klunky upright.

This Animal is named aptly. It is everything it has been told it was. Plenty of power and goes from hard floor to carpet without missing a beat. Light weight and responsive to reach every nook and cranny.

I cannot express myself about how impressed I am with my new Dyson V8 Absolute. It was not my first Dyson, I have had another Dyson DC35 for couple of years so far and could not complain. I decided to get an upgrade just because of a longer run time (12 min VS 40 min), and the new machine just took my breath away. I have to say the new Dyson exceeded my expectations. It is perfect in every single way. First of all it makes much less noise than my DC35, I have to put much less pressure on start button for the vacuum to keep working, the new brushes/attachments can now move from side to side or sort of fishtail for even better mobility, attachment of the brushes got much easier / smoother to compare with my other model, suction is as powerful as Dyson advertises, does not fade. Thank you Dyson for helping me to keep my house clean. You are one of a kind!

Dirt extractor came stuck

When I got the unit, everything seemed fine until I tried to pull the little red tab to open the dirt bin. It didn't work. After looking over the web and seeing other people with similar issues, I followed instructions where I put an inordinate amount of stress to open it; it worked, the lid opened, and it's been working fine since. This isn't really an acceptable way to get a multi-hundred dollar product and I've removed 2 stars because of it.
Otherwise, vacuum works fine, charges well, but I don't have yet a long term experience with it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Had this for almost a year and love everything about it so far! Do have two suggestions;
1) Wish there were swap-able batteries to extend the longevity of the time cleaning.
2) Why have you not developed extra OEM wall brackets to hold the extra extensions!!!??? I am OCD and need these up off the floor and next to the vacuum so I know they are there...Out of sight, out of mind...
And it is just me but when I vacuum carpet no matter where or what season, my trigger finger gets shocked about every 20 seconds so I have to hold the handle uncomfortably different to avoid the shocks and they are NOT small shocks...believe me.
I would recommend this to a friend!
