Hope it is as good as the old one was

I bought this about a month ago to replace one I bought a few years back, only because my wife loved it . I only hope that this one does not catch on fire like my old one did.

The BEST vacuum I have owned!!!!!!

I have 3 shedding dogs and slatted hardwood floors. This vacuum gets every hair and every crumb stuck in those slates. The interchanging carpet head and attachments expand its cleaning ability. It's not too heavy to handle either. I have owned Bissel, Hoover, Simplicity and Shark products. I never will buy anything but Dyson again. If I have one minor issue it would be that you have to hold the ON button to power it. Only downside.

Love the cordless, not the battery

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just purchased this vacuum a week ago. While I love the cordless concept, makes it easy to go room to room, the battery doesn’t last long enough to do the whole house. I vacuum half our main floor and had to recharge the battery to be able to finish. Also, I’m not a fan of having to keep the trigger pushed for it to run. The weight of the top starts to hurt my finger and hand doing so. I personally wouldn’t purchase this again.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're glad to hear that you've found the cord-free versatility of the V8 Absolute to be so useful in your home. We hear from many owners and they love not being tied down to a corded machine, and having limited reach. Your machine offers two suction modes - regular and MAX. Right out of the box, the machine is going to be set to MAX. This mode provides a boost of suction making it ideal for larger messes or more stubborn debris. This mode does give less run time - about 7 minutes or so. Regular power, which should be sufficient for everyday cleaning, will give you up to 30-40 minutes of run time, depending on if you're using the motorized floor tool.
We know that battery run time is a very important aspect of performance for our owners, so we developed a trigger that helps maximize the amount of time you can clean on one charge. We chose a light-touch trigger over an on/off switch to ensure that battery life is never wasted by letting the machine run when it's not in active use. Powerful yet light vacuum

I bought this because I trust the Dyson brand. Already own a Dyson DC17 Animal, for years now. Powerful and reliable. Best vacuum I have ever owned. Because of some health issues, I wanted to try the V8 Absolute for those days the DC17 is too much for me to push and pull. And I am very pleased with how well V8 cleans! Now I have two favorite vacuums.

The V8 is the 5th Dyson in the house. When I remodeled the lower level of our home with a combination of vinyl plank flooring and short pile carpet I bought a V7. I was surprised at the job it did and purchased a V8 for the upper level with a thicker pile carpet. It's great to have an easy to use vacuum with no cords to deal with. I had considered the V11 but like the way the canisters on the V7 and V8 open without having to remove the tube. With a St. Bernard in the house they get put to use daily and haven't disappointed.

Best in class for overall quality

Best product I have ever used, picks up dirt and excellent design for the use. Customer service for repair and warranty coverage is world best class. I think we made the best decision to go with Dyson. I have three Dyson machines and if Dyson keep their standard the way they are conducting business they have generational customer. Dyson videos for maintenance and repair are perfect. Overall Dyson is living proof of excellence. I give a lot of credit to the upper management who knows how to run the company. I also salute to the service, warranty, repair team for delivering best. I read quality is not an accident it is result of high intentions, sincere effort , intelligent direction and skillful execution. Dyson has done it all perfectly. I would love to see how they have done all this within company. Dyson has not paid me or have given me any machine to write this review, it is the reality of the product and company.
