Not so good. Need a hammer to finish staples.

I purchased this electric stapler thinking it would shoot staples into all woods. I took my bar stools apart and recovered them using the same wood base. I need a hammer to sink the staples in. The staples are 3/8". There should be a warning on the packaging stating this gun is not recommended for staples 3/8" or larger.

Sometimes what you've described can be resolved by picking the shortest staple possible to achieve the 3/16-inch to 1/4-inch penetration required for a secure hold. When working with a hard wood like oak or MDF, placing one hand on the cap of the tool may also be helpful.
