Setup process was painless

To begin: This is not a long term review as I just purchased and installed this yesterday. This is more to review the set up process and how is has been running in the brief time in which I have owned it.
Prior to purchase I did a lot of research and heard some worrisome things about the setup process using the app. Most of the negative reviews I had read which I was concerned with were with respect to the setup process, wireless range and durability.
While I cant speak to durability yet, the app was painless to use to set up my router. Given the reviews my first attempt to set up my router was to use the website but I couldn't find the proper link and the Netgear website took me into the deathloop trying to find a proper link so I just installed the app to install and set up my router.
The app was really straight forward and my router was up and running within 20 minutes and the walk through was very easy to follow and understand.
The signal strength is exactly what I was looking for. Our house is about 3000 Sq ft and the router is set up next one exterior wall and there is signal right across the property which is approximately 10000 square ft.
So far I give this item five stars. If I run into any durability issues in the future I will edit my rating and leave more clarification with that respect.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Not worth the money

A rip off of a product it has a 30 foot range on it. A real waste of money. My 50 dollar linksey blows it out of the water. Don't waste your money.

I cannot recommend this router to anyone. Every week the ethernet connections just stop working. If you do a google search you can see this is a big issue that Netgear has ignored. All the extras like parental controls you have to pay an annual fee for. Most other companies have this included at no extra charge.

In 20 years of buying wireless routers, this is the first one that wasn't a piece of cake to set up and didn't 'just work.' Setup through the idiotic "app" I didn't want to have sign up to use in the first place, failed.
After some months of working adequately--except that the Internet status information on the admin page is worthless, it'll say "all good" when the Net is quite definitely down--the 5Ghz network has started randomly wigging out, and this seems to be a typical complaint. You had one job!

Great Router

Good signal throughout our split level house. Our old unit was around 10 years old, so it was time to upgrade. Only downside is our Brother wireless printer disconnects from time to time.

bought this router as the reviews and comments looked good, unfortunately the positive reviews were not accurate.
to start, once you update the firmware to the latest release you will no longer be able to access the web interface of the router and will be restricted to using the app with the netgear account that you will be forced to create. this would not be a big deal if the app was able to replicate any of the configurations that are available on the web interface, but it does not. the app is extremely basic and you are not able to perform any programming to your router.
I would recommend staying away from any netgear as this webpage issue has been present for most models.
