Bought this to avoid using chemicals with daily cleaning. Have used Shark steam mops at sons home. This model gives very little steam and minimally cleans floor. Very disappointed in this Shark product.

first of all, I have never written a review before. This time I cannot resist because I have never had such a frustrating experience as I have had with this steamer mop. when I brought it home I started to use it and when I plugged it in it started steaming that is the only time this thing whatever steam. It was brand new out-of-the-box so I would think if I bought something new I would not purchase something that does not work. The handle states if you push down it will release the steam well obviously as you mop you have to push down on the handle and there is no steam also can you get one measly pad with it instead of creating this thing to use disposable pads. The only reason I purchase this item is because swiffer is no longer making their steam boost which was an amazing product. I have thrown my steam mop away made by shark and I will never purchase another shark item again. I tried to take it back to the store I purchased it and they told me that I had to send it back to shark in order for them to fix it Well that would be OK except I had to pay the shipping to send it back and have it returned to me which would've cost me more than what the stupid little thing cost me in the first place. Do not buy this item it is worthless it does not steam and want to use the pad one time it gets stained and even if you bleach it it does not get clean so I'm not sure if my floors are getting cleaned or not. I wish there was a way to write this product lower than one star.
I received this as an add-on bonus when I bought a Sharp Duoclean Vertex from Shark (what an awesome vacuum! - see my review on that). Never seen the need for a steam mop and just used Swiffer wet pads or a mop....UNTIL NOW! We have a mix of wood laminate, vinyl and carpet and 2 dogs and a cat. Whenever we've cleaned the hard floors they always seem to show streaks and footprints when dried. Of course, you have to wait for the floors to dry before walking on them and with pets, that's impossible. The S1000 is about as simple as you can get. Fill it with tap water, plug it in, wait a few, pump the handle a few times to prime the steam and mop head, off you go. It is very light and easy to use and with a few extra wipes, it gets rid of stubborn stains. It also supposedly sterilizes too without any chemicals and no smell. Each time you push the mop the handle automatically pumps more water to produce more steam. The floor dries quickly as there's not much water applied and and what there is, is warm, so it evaporates pretty quickly; in a minute or two. The best thing is that the floors look clean with no streaks or unevenness; the dark wood laminate especially. That really shows any residual dirt and cleaning solution when we've used a Swiffer wet pad. The downsides are that the cord is too short and there's no power button on the handle. You have to unplug it to turn it off. FYI... Make sure you don't leave it mop down in one place as the prolonged steam could harm the floor). The two provided microfiber mops are easy to apply and remove with the Velcro fastening. The long tag, that you tread on to remove the pad without getting your fingers near the steam, is a novel idea. I have no idea if the higher priced units do a better job, but this S1000 seems to clean floors better than a mop or a Swiffer, so I'm satisfied. I would never have bought a steam mop, but now that I have one, it's a staple in the cleaning cabinet. Maybe we need the upper range one that'll also refresh clothes and drapes! :-))
I purchased about 3 months ago and every time I use it I'm disappointed. Mop Heads do not pick up the dirt well. I always have to get a towel to get up the dirt.
I bought this and right out of the box it never worked, didn't produce steam or get hot enough bro create steam. Very disappointed and I've been wanting one for a long time.
