The self-cleaning brushroll handles pet hair well, and HEPA filtration keeps dust in check. Cord can be a hassle, but no battery worries.

Fabulous lightweight vacuum

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this Shark! I had an older model that didn’t have all of the bells and whistles. For example, the light!!!! I never knew how useful a light is. The suction power is great! Also it has a self cleaning roller brush. My only complaint is the size of the container for the debris. Overall I highly recommend!

A Must Have!!!

I went over a previously vacuumed room and you will not believe how much dust was picked up after another brands vacuum!! The self-cleaning brush is unbelievable!! I no longer have to clean out my wife’s hair!! The weight is perfect. The vacuum is a bit loud, but I do not mind it. I do love that it is corded, no worrying about charging. The cord is a very reasonable length. Overall, it is AMAZING and I will not go back to any other brand!!

Cleaning is a breeze!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Never really used a vacuum much as I lived in NYC most of my life and have been a little old school with cleaning. But this was such a blessing to receive. This makes cleaning a breeze! Lightweight, easy to maneuver and in my opinion not too loud.
Suction Power is very good for a vacuum this size, cleaning the bag is breeze. Lightweight even for my my mom to use. Such an amazing product.

I’ve been really impressed with the Shark Detect Ultralight. Even though it’s lightweight, the suction power is outstanding — it picks up dirt, pet hair, and dust in one pass. The PowerFins brushroll really grabs debris from both carpet and hard floors, and switching between surfaces is seamless.
The cord is long enough that I don’t have to keep unplugging as I move through the house, and the vacuum is easy to maneuver in tight spaces. It’s also simple to empty the dust cup and keep clean, which makes it really convenient for everyday use.

Opt for the full size model vs the lightweight

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was thrilled to try the Shark Detect UltraLight Vacuum after seeing its detailed infomercial, which really sold me on its features. Note that the UltraLight is different from the standard Shark Detect model. In hindsight, I’d choose the full-size version over the UltraLight for better performance.
The UltraLight lives up to its name - it is indeed lightweight and easy to maneuver. However, its suction power feels limited, especially for deeper cleaning. The dust canister is small, requiring frequent emptying, though I give it five stars for the emptying process. It’s designed to minimize escaping dust particles, and unlike other brands, it doesn’t require force to open.
The cord placement also deserves five stars. Positioned at the top near the handle, it stays out of the way during use, unlike competitors with cords near the base. I no longer worry about tripping over it or holding it to avoid running it over.
One surprising discovery, for me, was that many vacuums primarily suction when moving forward, not backward. I’m not sure how I lived so long and never knew that! The UltraLight does offer some backward suction, which is noticeable on longer carpets as it creates a distinct pattern—a nice reminder it’s working. However, it occasionally requires multiple passes to pick up fine particles. This can be frustrating for thorough cleaning especially when the dirt is not easily visible.
Overall, the UltraLight has innovative features, but its suction power and small canister size hold it back. If you prioritize lightweight design and convenience, it’s decent, but for more robust cleaning, consider the full-size model.
