I have relied upon and have enjoyed Otterbox for many years. It was the only phone protector for me. When I ordered and received the 16Pro defender case with clip, like every year, I was surprised and saddened to find that in my opinion the case is lacking the attention to detail I have come to expect. The Defender case doesn't cover the edge of the phone where the new camera button is on the right lower side of the phone. Before I received the Otterbox case I had another case temporarily that did have it covered and I dropped the phone and my glass protector cover cracked right there. I said to myself that i'm glad I had the glass on or it could have been my phone display glass and the Otterbox Defender case would not allow this to happen. So now I wait and see if Otterbox does a little research and maybe they will have an updated version soon. I will always buy Otterbox over any brand.

Hello Bruce! The new and improved design works seamlessly with Apple's new camera control button on the Apple iPhone 16 line of our cases. Our engineering team not only found that the new notch does not diminish the drop protection of the case, we also re-engineered these cases to be Drop+ 7x rated up from Drop+ 4x rated on previous versions.

The case itself is nice and protects the phone. Except for the notch cut out for the camera button on the side. I had this phone 4 days and dropped it from my hand to the floor. The screen protector was immediately cracked at the notch. There is simply zero protection at the notch cut out. I will be getting a different case as I keep phones 2-3 years and will not be replacing screen protectors on a constant basis.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Not totally protected at the top of phone button

The case did not protect the camera button on the right side of the phone. I dropped the phone about a foot and it hit on the top unprotected phone button. It broke the protective glass I installed on the phone. Loved Otter box until now. I sent all 3 phone cases back and went with another top brand.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

A case that pairs with a holster should fit securely into the holster regardless whether it’s oriented backward or forward, up or down, left or right. But the Defender only sits in its holster snugly when facing outward, and only in one direction.

The phone case itself is well made and what I would expect from Otterbox. The holster/belt clip needs improvement. The clip is flimsy and it seems that I constantly have to make sure the phone is clipped in otherwise it falls out of the holster when walking and when I get in and out of a car. On several occasions the phone has fallen out in the car without me knowing.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Overall this is your standard Otterbox. Offers almost great protection, grip and coverage. Where it lacks is at the camera button, leaving about 1" entirely exposed. You wouldn't think this was such a bad thing, but on a previous phone mine slipped off the console, hit the seatbelt buckle and hit right on the edge cracking the screen. You know that millimeter between the glass cover and the edge of the phone, yep CRACK all the way across the screen. What are the odds that this would happen twice? Fingers crossed! With that exception it offers pretty good coverage but definitely needs improvement.
