Disappointed with the changes from previous Defender models. The exposed edge where the camera slide is tactilely and protection wise bothers me. I understand it may be ok for drop tests on a flat surface but Murphy says if I'm on rocks or drop something on it, that's where it will hit. Also don't care for the fact that it only latches in the holster in one direction. Still having to put it in twice most of the time because it's backwards the first time.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello Jim! The new and improved design works seamlessly with Apple's new camera control button on the Apple iPhone 16 line of our cases. Our engineering team not only found that the new notch does not diminish the drop protection of the case, we also re-engineered these cases to be Drop+ 7x rated up from Drop+ 4x rated on previous versions.

Not thrilled with new design around camera lens

Otterbox Defender cases have always been my go to. I’m prone to dropping my phone on a regular basis and they always protect it well. I usually add a camera lens protector separately and they have always fit well. This new design, however, does not allow to addition of a lens protector. I’ll be looking elsewhere for something that will work with a lens protector, as this is a must for me.

The design does not hold the phone as securely as other otter boxes have in the past. I have used otter for a long time and am a little disappointed in this design.

It is a good product for the 16 pro, however they need to rework the cutout for the new button. It should be enclosed by otterbox just like it encloses all of the other buttons. My wife dropped her phone from the car seat to the floorboard and cracked the safety glass cover because it hit right at the new button cutout

The area where the case is feels safe. I haven’t dropped my phone but I feel like it would be safe on the back and sides. However, due to the 16pro side button, that area is SO vulnerable. I have a screen protector that cracked right at that point and again I haven’t dropped it at all. I’m not even sure if the screen itself is broke or not, but I feel design-wise they’d do well to protect that area
