Batteries dying after one year

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] One of the batteries that came with the mower is completely dead and won't charge. I get a flashing red light. The other battery lasts approximately 5-10 minutes per use. I gave up on this mower and have started using the 40v version I've had for 7 years. Those batteries still work fine.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello ktg807. Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear about the experience you have encountered with this battery. The overall battery life is dependent on many factors such as where they have been stored, charged, and handled. When the battery will not be in use, we suggest storing it indoors, in a cool dry area - away from direct sunlight. We see that you have been in contact, and the Customer Experience team are doing their best to work towards a solution. Greenworks is committed to making sure customers are 100% satisfied with the quality and durability of each purchase. We thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to improve this experience for you. Please keep us updated.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought about a month ago and this is my first electric mower. There is a learning curve but I suspect part of my issue is that I was accustomed to front wheel drive instead of rear. Does a great job on the grass and I like that it is quieter, easier to start and I don't have to get gas or need as much maintenance.
In general I am very satisfied with the machine. It cuts on a par with the gas machine previously used. It is also useful as utility vehicle to transport tools and such around the property or to visit nearby neighbors. Together with battery chainsaw and string trimmer I can throw away the gas cans. With a light weight front end it is easier to maneuver than the gas unit and also seems to handle rough terrain better. I mow a yard, orchard and some field. None of these are manicured. I don't measure the acreage cut but a battery charge lasts just over 1.5 hours with 4 AH batteries. The mower came with 2 discovered defects. 1: The cooling fan on 1 charger does not shut off until the battery is removed. 2: The parking brake will not set. It probably just needs some adjustment which leads to perhaps my biggest problem which is the owner's manual. A machine as expensive as this deserves a comprehensive and clear manual covering operation and routine maintenance and adjustments. An owner's manual should be clear, correct and comprehensive. The provided manual is not. It would also be useful to have a parts list with exploded views. The control panel is in an awkward position and not easy to reach while in operation. There needs to be an option to operate blades in reverse without undertaking a frustrating sequence of operations. An onboard charger would be of considerable convenience even if it were a slow charger. Many will find removing and replacing the batteries is not a trivial job.
Pros: Easy to Use, Quiet, Environmentally Safe, Effective
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this last year and it's been the best buy. I actually have 2 Greenworks lawn mowers and love both of them. Great price and great product. AND I also have a weed eater and leaf blower both of which have made my life so much easier.
