Light, Quiet, and Powerful

Easily cuts through heavy fescue. Better than my previous gasoline model in every way. Easy to use and has self-propelled rear wheels when you need it. It takes a few seconds to disengage the self-propelled feature, so backing up is less than ideal, but not a real issue. Good controls for start and stop. Good side discharge that doesn't easily fall off like other mower brands. A spare battery would be good for large lawns, but the cost is high. Battery from the trimmer fits mower.

Lightweight, but difficult to mow near fences. Battery runs out too fast.

This mower works well for small, wide-open yards with no walls or fences. It's easy to maneuver, easy to turn, and the battery is easy to plug in and detach and isn't bulky or heavy. The charger is great and very easy to use.
The problem with spacing and walls is there is an inexplicable 6-inch wide "front bumper" on this mower that prevents you from pushing up closely against walls and fences, requiring you to turn the mower sideways to mow against a fence. This is not ideal or practical in most cases, because there simply isn't enough room. And that also makes this mower difficult to use in tight spaces, such as around shrubs. I'm not sure why this big gap exists on the front of the mower and have never seen it on any gas or electric mower I've used.
The included 2W battery runs out, on average, in about 20 minutes, and takes 30-40 minutes to recharge. Obviously this isn't ideal, and on a yard larger than about 1/2 acre, you will be swapping out batteries a LOT and simply running out of juice. The charger cannot keep up with mowing and swapping. I knew this before buying, so it's hard to really complain, but buyers should have this info before buying and understand that this mower cannot be kept running continuously with two 2W batteries. There needs to be 10-30 minutes between each swap to make sure the new battery is fully charged.
Overall, the mower is probably a little overpriced, but I suspect that's because the batteries are VERY expensive, and that is driving up the price of the mower. The cost of a new or battery alone is about the same price as a brand new gas mower. So considering that rechargeable lithium batteries always have a finite life, it remains to be seen whether the long-term cost of owning this mower is actually less than the cost of a gas mower.
My initial estimate is that it will cost a lot more to buy and operate this mower over the long term (primarily because of periodic battery replacement) than a gas mower. So if you are interested in purely the cost-savings, this probably is not the answer. If your goal is to consume less or no fossil fuels, this is a great choice.

Great But Not for Small Hands

While the mower is easy to handle and joy to mow with, the battery installation and removal are terrible. The battery is so heavy and sits so low there is little room for fingers to squeeze the release and pull it out. I put a shoelace under the battery when I insert it and use that to hoist it out while squeezing the release.

This was a replacement for one like it which I had for 5 years; the old one had a bearing failure in the motor. My only complaint is that the rear driving wheels tend to spin if the grass gets the least bit wet or if I am going up a slope; I think it would be improved if the rear wheels had some tread. I had the same problem with the original; otherwise I think it nearly perfect.

So far pretty disappointed.

I thought it would use the same 80V battery as the chainsaw, edger, blower, weed eater and more but the battery for those items does not fit in this mower. I'm still having difficulty contacting support to deal with this and another issue with a bolt missing from the handle.

Hello John,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. - We are sorry to hear about this issue. Normally, our 80V battery models are compatible with our 80V tools, so it is impossible that they do not work together, unless the battery is physically unable to insert and connect due to a defect. Our team would be happy to look into your potential warranty options. Please consider contacting us a call at 1-888-909-6757 or by sending an email to info@greenworkstools.com for further assistance. All we ask that you please have access to the charger, battery and tool for troubleshooting purposes.
We look forward to speaking to you.

Very Happy with My second Greenworks Purchase!

I am very happy with my new Greenworks lawn mower. I have a severe case of arthritis in several joints in my body. I had a self-propelled Cub Cadet mower with a steel deck. It was hard for me to use. My Greenworks mower is much lighter & easier to handle. I was thinking of hiring a lawn service, but with this mower I will be able to mow my own yard for several more years. I am really impressed with the sensor technology. When i hit the thick grass by my septic system, the rpm's increase until i get thru it. With my old mower, i had to slow down or go back over it. My lawn looks uniform & clean cut. Plus, i can use the battery in my Greenworks snowblower too(which is very efficient).
