Exceeded all my expectations

This mower has exceeded all my expectations. I'm in my 2nd year of use and this mower has done everything extremely well. Even when I let the thick St. Augustine grass get six inches tall, I could cut it with hippo chomp technique and bagging. It did not bog down. I found I could get an extra inch of height by moving the lever behind the adjustment gate..The only way this could get better is for the deck to be aluminum like my 70's LawnBoy, and taller wheels.
If you are on the fence about going electric, for medium size residential yards that can be completed in an hour on a cool day, you will find that not having to deal with (1) gas, (2) oil, (3) noise, (4) weight, (5) fluid spillage, (6) pull starting, (7) gas and gum problems, (8) safety / dieseling, the minimal loss of power you sacrifice you normally get from a gas engine is a favorable trade-off.
I can honestly say that the noise and vibration from a gas mower takes energy from you. An electric like this is so smooth and quiet, I can push the thing through a lawn cutting and have more strength and energy to do other things because I wasn't beat up by the gas mower with self propel.
I was a late adopter. My last gas mower lasted for 11 years. and if it weren't for a slightly bent shaft from hitting a root, I might still be using it. But, if i had hit that root with this GreenWorks, the plastic fan base might have taken the brunt of that hit, not a metal shaft adapter.
Not five stars for not being aluminum.

Purchased in April 2026 and so far has been excellent doing the areas around my house. I am a 74 yo female and own a bit under 3 acres so this is augmenting my rider mower.
Definitely was easy to put together once delivered and have found it easy to handle even on the slight slopes and around my trees.
Battery life is decent .. though will probable purchase a second since i do need to recharge .... which is done in less than 45 min. to finish up.
Stores easily once folded ..... I don't uses the bag so use the side discharge for mulching ....I am consistent in cleaning the under carriage after each use ....
Will see the durability and longevity
Pros: Convenient, Easy to Use, Quiet

Great Lawn Mower !!

I bought this lawnmower a couple years ago. Love it! I have 1/3 acre of lawn, and the mower and battery handles it just fine. The 4-in-1 functionality is real, and works quite well. I use the mower in the fall to mulch and pick up the leaves from our very large tree. This was one of the BIG reasons why I bought the mover in the first place! No gas, no oil, no smell. Also I store the mower on-end against the garage wall which is quite convenient. Try that with a gas mower.
Pros: Convenient, Cost-Saver, Easy to Use, Quiet, Durable, Environmentally Safe, Effective, Powerful

Hello Big Green.
Thank you for your feedback. We are glad to hear you are enjoying the performance, cut quality, and quieter operation of the 80V 21" Self-Propelled Lawn Mower (LM2138S). We understand your concern about long-term battery performance, as runtime and battery lifespan are important factors for overall satisfaction. Battery longevity can vary depending on usage conditions such as grass thickness, cutting height, and terrain, but maintaining best practices, like avoiding full depletion, storing the battery in a cool, dry place, and charging it after each use, can help extend its overall life. For optimal runtime, mowing regularly and not removing more than one-third of the grass blade at a time can also reduce strain on the battery. You may also find it helpful to review official Greenworks instructional videos on the Greenworks Tools YouTube channel for battery care and mower operation tips, including this video on tips for storing your Greenworks battery (https://www.youtube.com/shorts/q-ITYPs3yBo?feature=share). If you notice any significant decline in performance over time, we recommend reaching out to Greenworks success team so they can review your battery and provide assistance if needed. They can be reached either using the online chat function, on Greenworks Tools page, or by calling 1-888-909-6757.

Rough lot needs different tools first.

I bought this item to mow two vacant lots on my block. The ground was so rough with weeds that I only cut the berm and 3 feet of the front lawn while burning through half of the battery. The mower struggled to move forward. There were some rough weeds on the site which did cotribute to the difficulty. So, I'll go back with a swing blade soon. I became exhausted. I'll try again soon.
Pros: Environmentally Safe

Thank you for your feedback on the 80V 21" Self-Propelled Mower (SKU 2550402 / MO80L416). Based on your description, it sounds like the conditions, heavy overgrowth, uneven terrain, and thick weeds, were beyond what a single-pass cut is typically designed to handle, which can lead to higher battery draw and reduced self-propel performance. For best results in these environments, we recommend first clearing the area to reduce overall vegetation height, then mowing in stages rather than attempting a full cut in one pass, starting at a higher deck setting and gradually lowering it on subsequent passes to avoid overloading the blade and drive system. Slowing your forward pace and ensuring the underside of the deck is clear of built-up debris can also help improve airflow and cutting efficiency, especially in dense growth. In very rough or uneven lots, breaking the area into smaller sections and avoiding wet or matted weeds will further reduce strain on the battery. For additional guidance, Greenworks Tools also offers an official instructional video on mowing overgrown grass conditions, which demonstrates best practices for tackling challenging terrain and maximizing runtime. We hope you will find this information helpful. If you require any additional support or have questions regarding a product, we recommend trying our Q&A section on products' page or Chat with us direct on our website or call 1-888-909-6757. We are here to help.

I LOVE my new mower and leaf blower. I was never a leaf blowing sort of girl, considering that dumb cord and all, however this battery operated version with a THROTTLE has changed my life. Also, the mower is super light and much quieter than the obnoxious combustion engine variety. Planning to replace all my gas guzzlers with these fabulous little green machines!
