Great Extended Hedge Trimmer Meets the Mark

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Greenworks has available their newly designed 80W 20" Cordless Pole Hedge Trimmer with 2.0Ah battery and 4A charger. The box includes the pole trimmer, detachable handle, 4A charger, 2.0Ah battery, plastic blade protector, and paperwork. The pole trimmer/battery comes with a 4-year warranty.
PROS:

* It's ready to use out of the box once the battery is fully charged.
* The brushless motor on this trimmer will typically last longer than a normal brushed motor and provide more power.
* It's not light at nearly 15 lbs; however, it's much lighter than a gas pole hedge trimmer, even when using carbon fiber extension rods that some manufacturers offer.
* The 2.0Ah battery is good enough to trim the top of 10 big bushes I have in my yard and plenty of life left when done.
* The blades are razor sharp, made of high-quality steel, and make very precise cuts.
* The motor is strong enough to slice through thick branches like butter. I don't have exact measurements of branch diameters, but basic branches were no problem at all—the trimmer sliced through them effortlessly and left everything looking clean and tidy.
* I like the way this "safety trigger" is designed. There's a small piece that has to be moved forward under the trigger before it's depressed. This is much better than having a trigger that has to be pressed by the opposite hand on the handle closest to the blades.
* With the provided 4A charger, I was able to charge the provided 2.0Ah battery from 0% to 100% in about 45 mins
* The charger can be free-standing on 4 rubber feet or mounted with 2 screws. The battery has a very snug fit, so I found it beneficial to mount it so it would be easier to remove the battery.
* The flexibility of the trimmer head being able to bend down to 90-degrees OR up at 45-degrees allows the user to cut the tops of bushes or the underside easily. The head can be clicked in place in 7 different positions.
* The pole allows for 7.5-ft extension

* When the battery is charging, the charger does have a low-to-medium humming sound as the charging motor is operating.
* This blade is shorter; however the pole still makes it nearly impossible to trim smaller round bushes that are 1 to 2-ft in diameter. This pole hedge trimmer is great for cutting bushes to be flat but can cut some rounded edges depending on the angle the user is taking.

A ladder isn't needed as often especially to trim the top of bushes flat with the adjustable head. That is a great feature that I use each time I trim my bushes. The pole trimmer isn't so heavy that I need to use a strap, but I have that option if needed. I wouldn't change a thing on this pole trimmer. It's a well though-out design but could use a better blade sleeve. Great job, Greenworks! I would buy again and highly recommend.

I still have to use another 22-inch hedge trimmer for the smaller bushes due to the angle difficulty created by the 26" blades, weight, and the mandated placement of both hands on the trigger and front handle. I like the ability to turn the rear handle 180-degrees, but the front handle not having an ON-trigger on the sides makes for an awkward holding position. Hopefully Greenworks will correct that. Overall, this ia an incredibly high-quality product, and I would absolutely get another one and highly recommend.

good first impression

Cuts very well, although a bit noisey when cutting heavier branches, wished they had the long one in the 82v with metal head, I'm concerned how well it will hold up long term. Only time will tell. Otherwise it really works great.
