Easy To Use

I bought this unit back in February and have used it for about 25 cuts so far. The set up was easy and the mower runs great. The battery charges quickly. The issue is with how clean, or not clean, the unit cuts. Not sure if it is the design of the deck, the blade or just not enough oomph but it leaves way too many blades uncut even when cutting at a snails pace and with a significant overlap. I thought that the 80 Volt would be powerful enough to lift all the grass for a nice clean cut but it does not.

Hello # A Cut Below,
Thank you for sharing your feedback! When the lawn is being cut uneven, this can indicate a few different things. The first being that the lawn itself is rough or uneven. However, if this is not the case then it is possible that the grass is too tall, or the cutting height is set too low for the type of grass. Try raising the cutting height and reduce walking speed in order to allow for a more effective cut and a proper discharge of the clippings. For a healthy lawn, always cut off one-third or less of the total length of the grass. The average lawn should be approximately 1 1/2 to 2” (3.8 to 5 cm) long during cool months, and between 2" to 3 1/4" (5 cm to 8.3 cm) long during hot months. If you have tried these suggestions, try having a look underneath of the mower deck and ensure that there has been no damage to the motor shaft, fan, blade, blade washer/insulator or the bolt. If any of these parts have been damaged or thrown off balance this will result in an even cut and likely, a noticeable vibration while in use. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had my doubts about this battery powered mower, but I’m pleasantly surprised that it could handle a big backyard and do the job right. it’s just as powerful as using a gas mower minus the mess easy to put away and take out. very convenient

I hate this mower when I try to go backward the wheels lock up. I have tried stopping the mower and pushing it forward, but the wheels still lock up. This has to be the stupidest thing Greenworks has done.

Hello Archie 1776,
Thank you for your review. The self-propelled drive system with rear-wheel-drive and variable speed control on this unit has been designed for maximum traction, maneuverability, and control. Self-propelled mowers move under their own power, utilizing a dedicated propulsion motor or a geared transmission running of the main (blade) motor. This reduces the strain of pushing a heavy lawn mower, meaning bigger areas of lawn can be mowed more frequently as the operators are less fatigued. The wheels temporarily lock when the self-propel feature is not engaged for safety precautions, however with a slight push ahead the mower should engage the self-propelled feature right away and get you right back to mowing as desired. We are sorry to hear that your purchase fell below expectations, if you ever have any questions or warranty needs, please do not hesitate to reach out to Greenworks directly through chatbot on www.greenworkstools.com that will direct you to a live agent or call us at Greenworks Pro toll-free helpline at 1-855-345-3934.

I just bought this unit to replace my gas Honda mower. I already like this machine. It works very well for my Bermuda grass on 1/4 acre yard. It has a lot of power to cut my tall grass. The self propel feature works well for me although it has few seconds delay to disengage.
Pros: Convenient, Easy to Use, Quiet, Environmentally Safe, Effective, Powerful

Makes me want to get out and mow!

I have owned this machine for 3.5 years, and I love it. I use it to mow my 1 acre property and without any attachments, I get beautiful lines in the lawn. I also use it to collect and mulch leaves in the fall, and it works great! People can't believe with the speed of the blades that on pavement, it collects every small piece of debris. All without having to store, pour and smell gasoline! Oh, yeah, and its easy to store, stands up on end making it very compact, leaving lots of room for my other greenworks tools!

Bad assembly. Useless Manual

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Handle would not assemble because of extraneous part. NO USER MANUAL AVAILABLE ONLINE. But they do include a TINY paper booklet that requires an extra strong magnifying glass to almost read. WHY when you charge this much money can't you provide a manual that can be read? Or at least have one online?
Pros: Quiet

Not perfect, but still great

So this is probably the best battery-powered lawn mower one can buy today: it cuts through thick grass, would strongly recommend the 80V battery for larger yards. However, the unit is pretty heavy for a push mower so if you need to use it on slopes, it may be a challenge. The side piece that directs the mulch comes off very easily, which is also not good.
