The two batteries that came with that lawn mower were great if they both worked. One of the batteries was dead, refused to charge. The website allows you to submit but I could never get it to work and gave up. Because I invested in this, I ended up buying another battery. Disappointed for sure.

Hello Bearly.
Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that one of the batteries included with your renewed mower would not charge and that you experienced difficulty submitting your request. 80V package not very impressive
on July 11, 2026

Purchased: March 12, 2026 - 80v mower, trimmer, blower combo
Notes: First purchase of battery powered mower. Yard is small (6,000 sqft). St. Augustine grass.
Pros: Sturdy construction, made in USA, blower is awesome
Cons: Battery runs out after 30 minutes. Purchased 80v for longer run time.
Trimmer is heavy and cumbersome. I'm still using my old Ryobi trimmer because it is so light and easy to use. Was going to buy a Greenworks edger attachment and extra 80v battery, but Ryobi edger with battery and charger was less than half the cost of Greenworks.
Mower motor response is slow to rev up for thicker grass, leaving uncut blades of grass all over the yard. Wheels lock up if you pull backward after releasing self propel.
My takeaway is that I don't feel like there was any advantage to buying the 80V package.
Pros: Quiet

Thank you for sharing such detailed feedback. We are glad you found the construction solid and are enjoying the blower, but we understand your concerns about runtime, tool weight, and overall performance.
Battery runtime can vary based on grass type and cutting conditions. Thicker grass like St. Augustine may require more power, which can reduce runtime and affect cutting consistency. Raising the cutting height slightly and mowing more often may help improve performance and reduce strain on the motor.
For Greenworks rear-wheel self-propelled units, the drive system is designed to assist forward mowing and improve traction. When backing up, release the self-propel lever before pulling the mower rearward. If the wheels feel locked, stop, allow the drive system to fully disengage, and then pull back slowly with the handle slightly lifted. If the issue continues, please refer to the owner’s manual for model-specific guidance.
We also appreciate your feedback on the trimmer weight and mower response. These comments are valuable and will be shared with our team.
If you would like us to help with optimizing the tool’s performance or exploring options, our Success team is available through the Greenworks Tools website Contact Us page, either through Chat or by phone at 1-888-909-6757. Thank you again for trying the 80V platform and for sharing your experience.

Exceeded all my expectations

This mower has exceeded all my expectations. I'm in my 2nd year of use and this mower has done everything extremely well. Even when I let the thick St. Augustine grass get six inches tall, I could cut it with hippo chomp technique and bagging. It did not bog down. I found I could get an extra inch of height by moving the lever behind the adjustment gate..The only way this could get better is for the deck to be aluminum like my 70's LawnBoy, and taller wheels.
If you are on the fence about going electric, for medium size residential yards that can be completed in an hour on a cool day, you will find that not having to deal with (1) gas, (2) oil, (3) noise, (4) weight, (5) fluid spillage, (6) pull starting, (7) gas and gum problems, (8) safety / dieseling, the minimal loss of power you sacrifice you normally get from a gas engine is a favorable trade-off.
I can honestly say that the noise and vibration from a gas mower takes energy from you. An electric like this is so smooth and quiet, I can push the thing through a lawn cutting and have more strength and energy to do other things because I wasn't beat up by the gas mower with self propel.
I was a late adopter. My last gas mower lasted for 11 years. and if it weren't for a slightly bent shaft from hitting a root, I might still be using it. But, if i had hit that root with this GreenWorks, the plastic fan base might have taken the brunt of that hit, not a metal shaft adapter.
Not five stars for not being aluminum.
Pros: Convenient, Cost-Saver, Easy to Use, Quiet, Durable, Effective

Purchased in April 2026 and so far has been excellent doing the areas around my house. I am a 74 yo female and own a bit under 3 acres so this is augmenting my rider mower.
Definitely was easy to put together once delivered and have found it easy to handle even on the slight slopes and around my trees.
Battery life is decent .. though will probable purchase a second since i do need to recharge .... which is done in less than 45 min. to finish up.
Stores easily once folded ..... I don't uses the bag so use the side discharge for mulching ....I am consistent in cleaning the under carriage after each use ....
Will see the durability and longevity
Pros: Convenient, Easy to Use, Quiet
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great Lawn Mower !!

I bought this lawnmower a couple years ago. Love it! I have 1/3 acre of lawn, and the mower and battery handles it just fine. The 4-in-1 functionality is real, and works quite well. I use the mower in the fall to mulch and pick up the leaves from our very large tree. This was one of the BIG reasons why I bought the mover in the first place! No gas, no oil, no smell. Also I store the mower on-end against the garage wall which is quite convenient. Try that with a gas mower.
Pros: Convenient, Cost-Saver, Easy to Use, Quiet, Durable, Environmentally Safe, Effective, Powerful

Bought it last month and so far happy with it. It is quiet, rans well, cuts well, efficient, and runtime is okay. A little concerned about how long the battery last.

Hello Big Green.
Thank you for your feedback. We are glad to hear you are enjoying the performance, cut quality, and quieter operation of the 80V 21" Self-Propelled Lawn Mower (LM2138S). We understand your concern about long-term battery performance, as runtime and battery lifespan are important factors for overall satisfaction. Battery longevity can vary depending on usage conditions such as grass thickness, cutting height, and terrain, but maintaining best practices, like avoiding full depletion, storing the battery in a cool, dry place, and charging it after each use, can help extend its overall life. For optimal runtime, mowing regularly and not removing more than one-third of the grass blade at a time can also reduce strain on the battery. You may also find it helpful to review official Greenworks instructional videos on the Greenworks Tools YouTube channel for battery care and mower operation tips, including this video on tips for storing your Greenworks battery (https://www.youtube.com/shorts/q-ITYPs3yBo?feature=share). If you notice any significant decline in performance over time, we recommend reaching out to Greenworks success team so they can review your battery and provide assistance if needed. They can be reached either using the online chat function, on Greenworks Tools page, or by calling 1-888-909-6757.
