Very pleased with the speed control as the slowest setting was just right for a senior over 80. My first mow of tall grass was set at mid level. The cut looked great and the mower is well balanced and easy to make turns. Also very quiet so I will now be able to mow my lawn on Sunday's because we have noise restrictions on that day. Very great machine . Forrest from California.

Excellent lawnmower, light enough that I often don't bother with the self propelled mode. Easy to adjust and operate with excellent battery life. I do my entire half acre lot and still have battery available. Controls are are very ergonomically located and the handle is adjustable to set a comfortable position. Don't miss fussing with gas & oil and hard starting etc.

Ninja Mower

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I took the plunge about a year ago and brought home the 80V Greenworks cordless battery self-propelled lawn mower. Calling it a 'Ninja Mower' isn't an exaggeration – it sneaks around the yard almost silently, sparing my neighbors from the usual roar of traditional mowers. It's been nothing short of a backyard superhero for my knees and back. I actually look forward to getting outside and taming my lawn, which, let's be honest, sometimes resembles a mini jungle.
The quiet operation is a real hoot. I can mow at dawn or dusk without becoming the neighborhood's least favorite early bird or night owl. And those LED lights? They turn mowing into a bit of a moonlit dance, letting me navigate the yard in low to no light without turning it into a bumper cars session.
As for the battery life, it's like running a marathon and not breaking a sweat. I have a yard that's pretty expansive (you could say it's more of a small park), and I've yet to see the battery indicator even flinch. Overall, this mower hasn't just kept my yard in shape; it's kept my sense of humor about yard work intact too!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this 1 year plus ago and it works so well that i have now bought a 80v leaf blower and the string trimer. All work great and all use the same batteries. I now have two chargers and two batteries and all work great. One battery quit and I called green Works and they sent the replacement battery no charge. Great products and great service when needed.

Very nice and quiet

Bought this about a month ago and have used it once for a final mow before winter. It has been a long time since I have mowed but this mower made it a nice experience. I used the mulch function and didn't have my wheels up high enough, when the grass built up, the machine stopped. Luckily I was able to figure out how to fix it and the mower began again. Assembly involves only the handle was pretty easy. The mower is relatively quiet, so it won't add to noise pollution.
I did contact customer service to ask about mulching and if I have to use the chute. Was pleased to see I got a response within a day and it was helpful.
The batteries do a good job. One thing, when they are on the charger, it is surprisingly loud. Set it up, where it won't bother you, I put it in my basement and didn't hear it at all.

Better than expected, better than hoped

To prepare for my retiring, we decided to cut expenses and buy a lawn mower. This 80V cordless mower turned to be a perfect purchase. It saved enough in one summer to pay for itself and the battery, which was nice, but the other benefits became obvious through that summer. It is light, so getting out and mowing is not a laborious activity, and it is quiet, so my ears aren't worn out. When you let go of the power lever, the motor shuts off, making it silent and conserves the battery. It doesn't emit fumes or require filling, transporting, and storing a gas can. There are many fewer mechanical parts to maintain and divine reasons for it not working. The 5Ah battery does my front and back yards (100' by 50' each). It probably would last longer, by I charge the battery immediately after use so that the degree of discharge is minimized, making the battery have a longer life overall. Its easy to clean: just take the battery out and powerwash its undercarriage. There is one simple and easy height adjustment lever. The cruise control is nice to have for thicker patches, but I rarely use it since it uses more of the battery. It is powerful enough to plow through thick and tall grass, and if it senses that it needs more power, it automatically delivers it for as long as it needs to. I will have to wait to see how long the batteries last. They are expensive (as are competing companies' batteries) and it would be a shame if they didn't last long. If that's the case, Greenworks could follow the lead of those companies that provide a corded adapter that plugs into the battery slot. In any case, at the time of this writing, I am thrilled with this mower and the company in general.

very disappointed with this machine. what I did in 30 minutes with a gas mower takes me 2 days! with this machine, and its still not 100% done. I bought an extra battery and it is still very disappointing how weak the motor is. It shuts down and kills battery at the slightest hiccup
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello turfted,

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you are dissatisfied with the run time of this battery when used in this lawn mower.
It is important to adjust your mowing techniques to make the most out of the battery life but it goes without saying that that the harder the unit works, the quicker the battery drains.

Here are a few mowing tips to help achieve the optimal run time.

1) When cutting thick grass, reduce walking speed to allow for a more effective cut and a proper discharge of the clippings.

2) Only mow 1/3 of the total grass length at a time - no more. For a healthy lawn, always cut off one-third or less of the total length of the grass. The average lawn should be approximately 1 1/2 to 2” (3.8 to 5 cm) long during cool months, and between 2" to 3 1/4" (5 cm to 8.3 cm) long during hot months.

3) Mow when the grass is dry. As this is an electric unit, mowing wet/damp grass is a safety issue. However, ensuring the grass is dry will also help the grass cut cleanly and discharge appropriately. Wet/damp grass carries more weight and will mostly stick to the blade/motor shaft and will not appropriately discharge or cut easily.

4) Make sure the battery is cool before use. When the battery will not be in use, we suggest storing it indoors, in a cool dry area - away from direct sunlight. Leave the charger unplugged and the battery disconnected from the charger unless it needs charging.

We hope these tips will help! If not, we would be happy to investigate to see whether your run time would be considered average; please contact us directly through chatbot on www.greenworkstools.com that will direct you to a live agent or call us on Greenworks Pro toll-free helpline at 1-855-345-3934. We would like the opportunity to speak with you to see if we can find a solution. All we ask that you have access to the unit so that we can complete troubleshooting with you and gather necessary unit information.
