[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this lawnmower on Black Friday and got a really good deal. I haven’t had a chance to use it yet as I live in the northeast and it’s a very cold.
Pros: Easy to Use

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been using the Greenwood mower, trimmer, and blower combo for a few months now and couldn't be happier. The battery system works seamlessly across all three tools, which makes yard work so much more efficient. Plenty of power for my suburban lot, lightweight enough to use without fatigue, and the price point was unbeatable. Highly recommend this set for anyone looking to ditch gas-powered equipment without breaking the bank.
Pros: Convenient, Easy to Use, Quiet, Durable, Powerful

Self-Propelled Drive Motor Issues
on May 13, 2026
Posted by: KD985
I bought this mower about two years ago. Since then, the power module and main motor have been replaced (outside of the warranty - it simply became too difficult and time consuming to process the claim). Today, the self-propelled drive motor failed leaving me to push the mower now. Greenworks does not provide a comprehensive parts diagram and list for this mower so you have to call the call center for more information. Replacement parts are limited or unavailable for this mower.

Hello KD985.
We are sorry to hear about your experience and understand how frustrating it can be when the self-propelled function is no longer operating as expected. Based on what you described, there are a few areas that may be helpful to check. Ensuring the drive control cable is properly connected and has not become loose or stretched over time can help, as this directly affects engagement of the self-propel system. It may also be worth inspecting the rear wheels and drive gears for any debris buildup or obstruction, as well as confirming that the height adjustment is even on both sides, since uneven settings can impact traction and drive performance. Additionally, checking that the battery is fully charged and properly seated can help rule out power-related inconsistencies.
We understand your concerns regarding parts availability and documentation, and your feedback is important as it helps identify opportunities for improvement. If the issue is not resolved after these checks, we recommend contacting our support team directly so they can further assist with troubleshooting and review available service options with you. They can be reached either using the online chat function, on Greenworks Tools page, or by calling 1-888-909-6757.

Cant use self propelled and mower at same time

Bought this lawnmower in April 2025, in July 2025, it would die while running, if I let self propelled switch off lawnmower would start right up, then 10-30 seconds later same thing, batteries showed about 1/2 power. Charged batteries and mowed over a newly cut lawn so no strain and ot did the same thing. Contacted Greenworks and the sent out a new replacement, but the same thing happened, again I Contacted Greenworks and they sent out another new one, tried it out today, and it started doing the same thing. There has to be a manufacturing defect in this lawnmower with both self propelled and blade are engaged. It does NOT cut out ever if I use as a push mower, but kind of defeats self propelled feature.
Pros: Quiet

Hi Tim the tool man. Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear this was your experience. If you are able to cross-test the batteries with another charger and another unit, this can help determine if the battery may be the issue. Should you have any further questions or warranty needs, please contact us directly through chatbot on Greenworks Tools website that will direct you to a live agent or call us at 1-888-909-6757 (1-888-90WORKS). Check out some helpful tips to extend your run time!

1) When cutting thick grass, reduce walking speed to allow for a more effective cut and a proper discharge of the clippings.

2) Only mow 1/3 of the total grass length at a time - no more. For a healthy lawn, always cut off one-third or less of the total length of the grass. The average lawn should be approximately 1 1/2 to 2” (3.8 to 5 cm) long during cool months, and between 2" to 3 1/4" (5 cm to 8.3 cm) long during hot months.

3) Mow when the grass is dry. As this is an electric unit, mowing wet/damp grass is a safety issue. However, ensuring the grass is dry will also help the grass cut cleanly and discharge appropriately. Wet/damp grass carries more weight and will mostly stick to the blade/motor shaft and will not appropriately discharge or cut easily.

4) Make sure the battery is cool before use. When the battery will not be in use, we suggest storing it indoors, in a cool dry area - away from direct sunlight. Leave the charger unplugged and the battery disconnected from the charger unless it needs charging.

Bought my first Greenworks item the 80v 21" lawn mower, along with it I bought the Trimmer as well, then added the blower. All of the Greenworks tools I have share the same batttery tech. It is as powerful as any gas mower I ever had. Zero maintenance on the mower. It is a beuitful machine, I now wash it down and dry it off after each use. Then last year I added a Greenworks Pole Saw. No more gas or engine oil in my garage now. No drop in performance, instant acceleration and power, zero battery issues. Cuts like a champ! If you are not on Greenworks, it is time to make the move and ditch the gas! All of the tools work as good or better than gas and are better for the environment.

Great mower for hilly yard.

This mower is great, it makes mowing easy. It does everything a mower should do, and does those things well.
-The bag attachment collects a ton of grass
-super easy to adjust cut height.
-RWD self propel feature is awesome. This mower will push itself up a 40 degree hill.
-a single battery has allowed me to cut my .25 acre hill of a yard easily.
When the mower arrived in the box the rear mulching door, where the bad attaches was improperly assembled. I sent a quick email to the service folks and we got it ready to use.
Good experience.
