great appliance for many years to come

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I brought this ricer to use for rice. I have been making oatmeal, beans, hard boiled eggs, risotto and even orzo. This machine has surpassed my exceptations. I love the fact that you add water to the reserviour and the dry rice, beans etc to the pot and the computer settings adjust the water according to what you are making. Seriously this could not be any easier to use, it also keeps your food warm for a very long time. It also comes with a little steamer bowl. You will not be disappointed. Again it is a Kitchenade need I say more.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was excited when this came out and was even more excited when it was on sale. Could not wait to get my new rice cooker. Unfortunately, I have been disappointed every time I use it. First time I used it, I got an "Overheated Device" error code. The rice was also undercooked. Second time, again rice was undercooked and took a really long time just to cook white rice. I reread manual and the third time I made rice, I selected the "Soft" option. After 90 minutes of cooking, the progress bar still showed another 40 minutes of cooking time but when I checked the rice, it was indeed done and soft. I use my rice cooker at least weekly, and have learned that I can not rely on the cooking time progress on the display. I ave to admit that I miss my old rice cooker that was big enough to cook several cups of rice and steam my veggies at the same time. The KitchenAid Rice cooker is too small to do both at the same time.

Have Your Oatmeal Ready and Waiting for You In AM

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Selected it for rice, hoping to make the sticky type rice I get at Chinese food restaurants, but haven’t even attempted it yet. Instead it is being used daily for steel cut oatmeal. It lets me cook to the thicker consistency that I like. I add bananas, berries and honey for a wonderful breakfast.
Then comes clean up time - I thought ugh. But, it is super simple and clean up is a snap. Zero scrubbing involved. The same water tank that cooks the grains and rice is used. You just close back the lid and tell the touch screen to clean. It steam cleans the pan. A quick rinse and it looks spotless. I like to quickly wash with a bit of soap, but it probably doesn’t even need this as it looks very clean after rinsing. I had honestly thought this would be a countertop appliance which I would pull out when I needed it on occasion. Instead it has its own space on my limited countertop as it has become a daily staple for using. I can set it to tell it to cook to be ready (up to 24 hours ) when I wake up and it will cook the oatmeal and keep it warm.
I look forward to trying the rice and even beans, but for now am loving the ease of cooking and cleaning for the steel cut oats.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The main reason I made the purchase was to avoid stove-top spill-over messes when steaming rice. After trying various settings and options offered when making rice - manual or automatic, rinsed or not, I have found the KitchenAid does an excellent job with rice, although I'm still looking to obtain slightly more stickiness in the cooked rice. It does require about 16 minutes more time than my gas stove stop preparation when making rice; and, more time for steaming vegetables than with my conventional electric steamer too. But I like the results. I like no mess. I like "turn it on, walk away" too. I'm looking forward to cooking beans. It has a compact footprint. It sits under the overhead cabinet nicely. I give it a 4.8 rating - slightly less than full 5 stars only because the cooking time of the unit is a bit slow - 35 minutes to cook a cup of white rice.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It's easy to use and tun to use since it's a unique design. It says you can cook 8 cups of rice the reason my husband convinced me to get this rice cooker but apparently it I put 3½ cup of rice it's still cook fully but not as soft of the texture of the rice I wanted. 3 cups is perfect for my Asian preferences for my rice. So this is perfect for small family but if you are asian and going to ha e a party and gonna serve rice this would not be the best option to use since cooking the rice probably take 30 mins or so and it will only cook 3 cups of rice if you want your rice perfectly soft.
