Pretty happy

I bought this for my 6 year old and so far so good. I had a couple problems with it like the volume and the tracking was off. However I called the customer service line and they were able to fix all of my concerns including the volume. I love that I can text my son or call him and allow him a little more freedom while still being able to track him down now that he is getting a little older. The only thing I wish was this device had was vibration to go with his texts as he doesn't always hear the beep and at the very least it should keep beeping until he has at least read it. Otherwise, I am happy with this purchase.

My wife and I purchased a Filip for our 10-yr-old son late last year, after having researched other reviews and knowing up front that it wasn't a perfect device. The results, however, were terrible and we abandoned it after about 4 months of earnest effort.
The audio quality -- in both directions -- is horrible; plus there often a time lag that makes it hard to communicate, especially with an excited tween who (rightly) expects it to work more or less like a phone. Battery life is extremely poor -- plan on charging it at least every night and probably more often if you actually try to use the thing. The Filip app that is required for parents to be able to communicate with the device is balky and prone to failure. Only one of us (my wife) was successful at getting it set up.
After the initial novelty thrill of having a wrist communicator, my son grew disenchanted and stopped wearing it (or charging it) altogether. Other kids made fun of it, especially after they saw how poorly it worked -- these kids today are far more sophisticated about using digital technology than the folks who want to sell this thing to you.

This watch is a lifesaver - literally!

We have had this product for over six months. My daughter is ten, high functioning autism, and runs when she is freaked out. The GPS is not the most specific tracker, however it helps me keep tabs on where she is. I love the emergency call function, and that I can initiate it on my app so that the phone has to pick up and she cannot hang up on me. I also like that I can text her simple messages. She wishes she could text me - but it doesn't seem practical. Overall I am extremely happy with this product. The battery life lasts a full day for us, that is with short calls and 15 gps updating. I do wish that the watch was waterproof. We are going to be purchasing our second due to water damage.

Terrible Battery Life

I had two devices and the battery only last a few hours. Not enough to get through the school day which negates the purpose for us. I wanted this mostly for making sure he was safe and has made his after school connections. Taking this back and looking for something better.

I bought this watch last Christmas for my son, and since the first day it wont hold full 8 hour charge and that is with the recommended settings from the FILIP site. Recently i started receiving notifications about low battery life only 2 hours after a full charge. I will not recommend this product. Cool concept and little delivery.

Like the features but wish the band was bigger!

We bought this device last Christmas. My grandson is big for his age so with all the extensions it doesn't fit very well. Love knowing we can see where he is and he can contact us if need be. Just wish Filip would come up with a different wrist band for bigger arms. He is only 8 and is not fat just makes it hard to stay on.

Purchase a blue one for my 5 year old about a year ago. Still works after all the scraches and all the sand. Battary lasts a day but longer if you utalize the settings properly. Valuem is not adjustable but is fine. Of course if the kid is in a very loud place you will have a hard time hearing with any device. Also the the kids needs to speak into the phone. GPS is ok - notification within 10min.
