Excellence Has a New Name: Epson

The Epson Artisan 835 has an amazing combination of low cost, ease of use, and quick installation. Right out of the box, the installation software walks you through everything you need to do (which isn't much!), and the touchscreen interface is both intuitive and powerful.
Furthermore, with the ability to print CDs and pictures as well as faxing, scanning and reading several types of memory cards, this all-in-one printer is still compact and the compatibility with our wireless network eliminates both the wires and printer sharing necessary via the old USB way. That's not to say it doesn't support the old way, which is does. Legacy support for Windows XP is welcome, as is the software manager that alerts you to such things as low ink with a computer display as well as on the printer screen itself. All in all, this printer far exceeded the expectations I had when I saw the low price; 5 stars for sure.

Printer Setup

I just received my printer today and in the process of setting it up to a wireless connection, realized I did not have the recommended usb cable. I called the customer support team to make sure the instillation went correctly. Of note, I found out had I proceeded independantly, the connection would not have installed properly. They walked me through the proper downloads for my computer and made sure the connection setup and function went smoothly. They more than exceeded my expectations. The quality of my first picture test page was incredible.

I purchased the Artisan 835 for a friend; I own an Artisan 800 -- and love the series, so I couldn't let the sale of a 835 just go by. I told a friend! I like the double-sided feature, and I'll get one in the future. But for now, my 800 works just fine, and I can only think that the 835 would work just fine, only better. I like the economical use of ink in the 800. To me, that's the best. I do a lot of printing and I feel that the 800 uses ink efficiently, better than any other printer that I've owned. This benefit is in addition to the very fine printing head for sharp, clear images and words!

I have had this printer for about 1-1/2 months now--bought it on the recommendation of an art teacher who has had very good experience with older model--and I am pleased with it. The quality of the photos and the color printing is very good, although I wouldn't say amazing. There are some fiddly bits when loading paper etc. but if you are gentle I think they will last. I like the ease of hooking up the printer and loading cartridges which I am only needing to do now with the black that came with the printer (but they include an extra black cartridge which is nice)-- of course, it's early days but it's fast, efficient and does the job. Plus the scanner and copier do fine work too.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Absolutely great pictures, Very easy Install
Replaces my R-220 printer & Perfection 4490 scanner both of which did a good job but went south with 64 bit Windows 7 ( Driver Issues )
Must say I'm glad this happened because it moved me into an updated experience. I didn't know what I've been missing.
