Highly recommended!

I've owned a few printers over the years (the first an Epson MX-100 in 1982). That was followed by various ink jets, lasers, and a dye sub. The Artisan 835 has quickly become my favourite of all.
I was looking for a printer that would print discs, photos, handle two-sided documents and work within a network. The Artisan does it all -- very, very well, in addition to providing scanning and copier functionality.
Set up and configuration for wireless network access was quick, easy and painless.

Printer Delivers on all functions

This printer delivers as advertised. I have always owned HP printers. I was always impressed with the photo quality, so I was going to replace my old printer with another HP. I had to return 3 HP printers in 10 days with various problems. I decided to try the 835 Artisan printer. It is very impressive. The quality of photos exceeded my expectations. I like having the individual ink cartridges. The setup was very easy and fast. The only con is the size. This was not a problem for me, but if you have a space issue it could be.

Just set it up and am already running every program. So easy to set up the wireless and everything works beautifully. Photos look great and printing is clear.
I was looking for an all in one that was not too complicated and yet did performed a multitude of tasks. This one is the answer. Set it up on an IMac and also a PC. PC was a little more complicated but the customer service solved the issue and now it works great.
In a word awesome.

Replacement of Artisan 810 with Artisan 835

I give this printer's predecessor a 4-star rating because I needed to replace it under warranty after only 6 months of light usage. It started consistently jamming when attempting 2-sided document printing but not in the duplex unit. I'm hoping the new model functions as well as the photo printing I did was fantastic & I love the fact that the ink dries instantly. I haven't used all the features yet, i.e. printing on a CD/DVD, but the fax works acceptably as does the scanner. I love being able to scan multi-page single-sided documents with the document feeder. Wireless setup went very smoothly & quickly - after I corrected a typo when entering the SSID password. I strongly recommend taking the installation instruction's advice & use a USB cable for the wireless setup as it makes it easier than entering the info on the printer's display.

My wife does a lot of scrap booking and I have printed a lot of glossy 4x6 prints from the Artisan 835 for this purpose. I am well satisfied with the results. I also have the Epson Stylus Pro 3880 and use it for my customer sales products. I am shocked at how close the quality is on my 835 printer is when compared to the 3380.
The only negative that I see with the prints from the 835 is that the prints need a little time to dry before handling them. I don't mean that the ink smears it just seems a little wet to the touch.
Overall I give the product an 8 out of 10 on the satisfaction scale.
I'm not sorry that I made the purchase for what I use it for.

Great for Printing CDs/DVDs

A few years ago, I purchased an Epson R320 primarily for printing directly to CDs. It worked beautifully, but I wore it out.
I am now the very happy owner of an Epson Artisan 835. Just printed the first batch of CDs today. The CD software is great, and mechanically, this printer is a huge advancement over the R320. This is a fine machine.
The Print CD software is a newer version of that which came with the R320. Since I already have a folder of custom templates, I'm hoping there's a way to import them into the newer version.
Have printed a couple of pages to letter size paper. They also look great. Probably won't use the scanner much. Definitely won't FAX. But other features such as duplex printing and auto document feeder will be very useful.
Bottom line: This printer is well worth the price if all it did was print CDs with such ease and quality! Epson is way ahead of their competition.
