amazing possibilities

I have been using the printer for printable CDs and DVDs--really fun to make... however the download of the program and use is a little tricky and it took extra time to figure out.
The wireless connection for this printer, once finally set up has worked beautifully...
Quality of prints/pics so far is average--used to have another.. which seemed better in quality of picture printing...
Speed of printing is amazing--very fast..
The Epson support staff is great--have called a few times!
Unable to download holiday print templates...

Great Machine!

Needed a printer, scanner, copier and did a lot of reading online to try to help me narrow down the choices.
The Epson 835 seemed to fit my needs. I was right; it does.
I have only used it a few times so far but it was easy to set up and is easy to use. Printed pages are great. So far, very happy with it. Prints quickly. Have not printed photos with it yet.
Give me a few more weeks and I can give a more complete review.

The best printer for color

I haven't had this printer long enough to call it excellent -- time is a factor in a compliment that large--but I can tell you that no other printer I've tried can give you the quality of color this one does. I have had a small problem with paper feed that someone else noted, but with mine it is only the first copy -- a blank sheet comes off before the printed one. This happens only with text printing, not photographs. With photographs, the first three I printed, on the included free paper, had "shadow images" on them as if the paper slipped and printed twice. Since using my own photo paper stock this hasn't happened. I got this printer for my art work, or more specifically to print out images to work from. I sometimes manipulate the images in photoshop. I needed true color. This printer delivers. I was strongly advised by all sales personnel that the ink is expensive. For me, quality was the issue. Check back with me in a few months to see if I still have cash enough to print out what I need. The size of this printer is ideal, too -- much smaller than my old Dell. There is inital noise, but not enough to be alarming (as my Dell had). However, the tray and plastic parts do seem a little flimsy. I can be rough on things.
This printer is remarkably easy to use. The set up and installation was the easier and least painful of any printer EVER. It has the capacity of a small creative arts center. I spent two weeks at stores trying out printers and trying the patience of sales people before I bought this one, was given greatly diverging opinions about what I should buy and none of them included this printer, but I am very satisfied with my selection and would highly recommend the Epson Artisan 835 to anyone who has the same needs as I do.

It's alright

I bought this mostly because of the wirless and built-in cd/dvd printing tray. I also have an RX595. For printing on cds/dvds, and regular and matte paper, I give it an A, except for the the smell from the ink. As for printing on premium glossy photo paper, I'd have to give it a D. I don't print on photo paper much, so it's not a big deal for me, but I did expect it to do much better then it has. My photos have come out way less then what they look like, compared to my Rx595. I use a high def camera to take photos and when I print them on the 835, the come out like a 3 megapix photo. Others say it looks fine, but when you see what the RX has done, then you see the way the photo should look. My main printing needs are DvDs, DvD Inserts matted, and documents, so I'm ok, but I'm a little frightened, if I should decide to try to print on glossy DvD Insert paper. Maybe I just need to tweak it, but for now, I don't think I'll be printing on any glossy paper. It is a great printer other then my glossy issue and the smell of the ink on printed materials.

Wonderful product! It does all I want, and more. I do a lot of art work plus photos, and am very pleased with the results. Ink cartridges are a bit pricey though, but the results are outstanding, because 6 cartridges are used.

Great features, those that work

Great looking color, intuitive user interface and many good features. Unfortunately, some features did not work on initial setup, including double-sided printing and the Epson iPrint mobile device app. Also, scanning seems to require the USB cable, so if you need that function, WiFi isn't an option. I'll be back with a 5-star rating if I get a good response from Epson on these issues.

Having trouble

I have installed, uninstalled and reinstalled several times.
After the third time and moving the printer I finally got it to work. The next morning I tried to print something from my computer, again it would not work.
So again I uninstalled, reinstalled a couple of times. I finally got the copies I originally requested but now cannot get anything else to print.
Waiting till I have the time to spend with the phone tech.
When review was first requested I was satisfied. Now not so much.
