Almost Perfect...

This is an awesome printer, especially if you get it on sale, as I did. In the 5 years I've had it, it has performed flawlessly at every task I've thrown at it, EXCEPT printing on card stock. Heavy paper won't clear the print roller. If you have need to do a lot of printing on paper heavier than 32-lb., this is NOT the printer for you. With the exception of this one failing, the Artisan 835 is fast and fabulous - an excellent performer.

I purchased the Epson 835 in June. It worked well up to last night. When I turned on the machine, I got a message that the cartridges were not recognized. I have been in contact with support with little results. Basically, I've been told how to install the ink properly over and over. The product was good for 2 months. So far, support is useless.

This is a great printer for the price. works great with my computer. For the pictures works wonderful , I don't have any cons about this printer. Plus it has a touch screen. One of the great things about it is that you can buy the ink colors separately, and its not expensive at all. Is a great investment for my home use and business.

We've only had this printer for two weeks, but we've had no problems. The install disk didn't work for Mac OSX Lion, but the Epson support folks provided a solution to get us up-and-running. We like all the features, plus the ability to replace only an ink cartridge that's necessary, rather than replacing one single cartridge for all colors. We've been using Epson printers for many years and like their features, functions, and support.

I did a lot of research before buying this printer. I was looking for a good photo quality printer to go with my new SLR camera. I was surprised at the great picture quality that I got. The wifi is also a great feature to have, I have 4 computers connected to it. I've tried just about every feature in the printer and they are all awesome. I'm glad I chose it. Set up was fairly simple, just follow the instructions.

Artisan 835

I had purchased my new Artisan 835 on August 18, 2011 to replace my old Artisan 800 which had to have the ink pads replaced. So instead of having them replaced I decided to purchase the new AIO for about the same price. I had just bought new inks for the 800 so I used them in the 835. It is exactly the same form factor except that the 835 comes with the duplexer to print on both sides of regular paper which will be useful for me. With the 800 I had to manually turn the paper around and place it back in the tray. I had never bought the duplexer for it. Wireless set up is much easier on the 835 since I didn't have to physically connect it to my router like I had to with the 800. All you have to do is load in the drivers onto your computer, set up wireless networking at the 835 control panel and you are all set. I am still amazed by the color prints and the sharpness of the text which is why I still went with the 835. I also like the ipod and ipad apps such as Epson iPrint and Print Jinni for Epson and the Android app such as PrintBot for Epson to print from your Apple or Android phones or tablets. One thing you should watch out for is when you press the power button, while the machine is on, you will automatically turn it off, wasting some of your ink, instead of giving you a warning that your faxes will be deleted from the memory before it turns off in the 800. To wake the screen up just tap it a few times. Also I had problems with the automatic document feeder not feeding the sheets in the 800. I have to see if I'll have the same problem. Over all I think this is a worthy follow up to the 800, improving on what was my best printer to date. I expect the 835 will not disappoint.

Best parts: Size, setup, WiFi, duplex (both side) printing, fast, fax and scanner work well. Very good color photo prints. Matte finish on printer case far superior to others' shiny black surface that show dust and scratch easily. Can we go back to matte beige, please? Not so good parts: economy black ink setting too light, WiFi (six feet away from transmitter) not reliable. Printer automatically shuts off after xx minutes of disuse, but won't turn on with some software and is intermittent with software that will turn it on. If you can, hard-wire it to your router.

Great printer

The installation was simple, about 20 minutes for wireless. I have not tested all the functions but the printer seems very accurate with great text and photo printing. The only thing I would change is the main paper tray. It's a little awkward to add paper. You have to remove the tray and push up the photo tray, add paper then line the tray up and push it back in.
