Great microwave

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We loved our old 9 Year old Whirlpool Microwave. This one, they switched the start and cancel buttons. You also need to press "COOK" before you enter your time. Very annoying. The turntable is also smaller. That said, we love the easy to clean interior.

SLIGHT BUYERS' REMORSE - SOUND LEVEL

The microwave heats food well. It does its job, with one flaw. That is the sound. The tones when buttons are pressed and the cook cycle ends are VERY quiet. In fact, I cannot hear it when the timer is done. Granted, I have slight hearing loss and tinnitus, and the pitch and sound level are completely inaudible. However, my wife and son both have excellent hearing. They both say they can hear the tones, but also say they are extremely soft (quiet). I have checked and rechecked under the settings and the volume is at its highest setting. In fact, I thought I received a bad unit from the store. Whirlpool sent a technician out to look at it. The technician told me that he owns one just like it and that is just how they are. That is an unfortunate step backwards for Whirlpool. My previous Whirlpool microwave that this one replaced had a tone that I could easily hear at the far end of the house. Reading other reviews, I have seen other mention this flaw. Some even recommended using a separate timer next to the microwave. Something to keep in mind when purchasing your next microwave.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Broke in 2-weeks

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] New microwave purchased/installed 2 weeks ago and it shorted out. Very scary seeing it spark out the top. Repairman said it was the magnatron, then service dept. called and said it was the transistor. Part has been ordered and suppose to be in next week. Will be without a working microwave for more than a week and I am not happy.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
