Great Microwave for the Price

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve had this microwave for a few weeks, and it has been great! I had replaced a 10 year old Whirlpool unit, and this current one is a bit quieter and more efficient than the last. The fan works well with the three speeds when I’m cooking only range top. The popcorn sensor is surprisingly accurate; not many kernels left in the bag. The fingerprint resistant finish looks great and is a noticeable improvement to me from the old unit.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Cruel joke - I would have picked a different model

- LED is too bright with no adjustment - The scrolling messages are the absolute worst. It's like if 1/3 of your phone screen was taken up by tutorials where you can only ever see 8 letters at a time and you can never turn them off. Completely annoying and distracting. When you do care what it's saying, you have to 1) first set the scroll speed for your reading ability, and 2) wait around while it finishes displaying the message - Too many sounds after cooking - Annoying reminders after cooking - Turning 'sounds' to 'off' only disables input sound, not completion sound or annoying reminders - Turning 'clock display' to 'off' has no effect and does not turn the clock display off - Makes horrible clunky noises while running like a car shifting gears - The entire front being glass means it always looks dirty, unless you clean it literally every time you touch it - After cooking, opening the door, closing it - the clock does not return, you get a scrolling message about how to start the timer again. You have to press 'Cancel' after every. single. use. - Buttons 1-3 begin cooking, while buttons 4-9 give you a message to 'press cook time'. The 1/2/3 minute options are a poor tradeoff for now also needing to press a button before each use
+ Cooks food
I'm stunned that this product made it to market.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this a couple weeks ago, and it looks really nice in my kitchen. It was easy to install and it has all the features that I need and want. My favorites are the melt button and the soften button.

Great appliance-but needs help with alert tones.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm giving the microwave a 5-star rating, because I've been a loyal Whirlpool customer for 40+ years. BUT as a senior citizen the choice of the alert tone frequencies that the designer selected >13 kHz or higher caused me to almost uninstall the unit due to the failure of the tone or alert sounds. Love the quality, finish, and functionality of this microwave, but what can be done to help seniors to hear when the appliance has completed it's cooking cycle???

Bad Recirc Fan Design

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you plan on using this as a recirc unit above the range - don't get it. The charcoal filter only filters one side of the two fan wheels - it basically just pumps the smoke and aroma right back into your kitchen. Whirlpool sent a service tech, and the tech confirmed this to be a design flaw. Two phone calls with Whirlpool support and they won't admit to it. Look at the two photos. It shows the filter only on one side. They claim that it goes back through but it doesn't. Otherwise the MW works well and looks nice.

Terribly disappointed

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This microwave is so loud, much louder than our older microwave we replaced. We do not like that the vent fan runs at all times when you are heating food. The microwave is so finicky and can't handle heating multiple things in series. So if I heat one microwave dinner (think small Lean Cuisine meal) for like 3-4 min., the next family member is unable to heat up their dinner for a while. My daughter puts in a Hot Pocket that requires 1 min, 50 seconds of heating but it won't heat properly because I just heated my Lean Cuisine meal and the microwave needs a "break". The Hot Pocket will be cold when it should be steaming hot. I've already talked to multiple repair shops and techs about it and have been told that "today's new efficient microwaves" can't heat multiple things one right after the other, and that this is not a defect. I consider it a terrible defect. I hate this microwave and wish I'd kept my old 15 year old unit. We consistently have problems with this microwave not heating foods properly if we need to use the microwave more than once in a short time period. It can't handle it. I do not recommend this unit.

Works well but the tones are too quiet to hear
on November 21, 2024

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like most everything, although I am still getting used to the express buttons -when I want to put something in for only 20 seconds it take 4 buttons to start. But my huge complaint is that although I have the tones set for the 3-loudest, I am slightly hard of hearing and even with my hearing aids in I can't hear the button tones, and certainly not the end of cycle tone.
