After receiving 3 very defective GE Profile PYD22KSLSS, we accepted the 4th one simply because our options were so limited. We wanted the fridge to match all of our other GE appliances (new home with all GE) AND the counter depth was minimal. Although this fridge received the “white glove” treatment, it still arrived with a dent in the door with the water dispenser, scratches on the opposite door AND doors that do not close flush.
We bought this to replace our old black appliance. Yes, it is louder than the older refrigerator but we don’t even pay attention to it any longer. I used to have a side by side and now I can’t imagine going back. I love the lighting inside too! The only negative is, it doesn’t make as much ice as our older one. There is an option to purchase an additional ice maker to go in the freezer section but I didn’t get it at the time of purchase. We may add that later. Overall, we love it!
We purchased this refrigerator about 6 months ago to replace a built-in unit. I love the look and the fact that it doesn't show finger prints. However, the most disappointing aspect is the materials used on the interior of the refrigerator. The plastic components are very thin and feel like they will easily break. We have also had issues with condensation in both the refrigerator and freezer. Another item I wanted to mention is the fact that the doors don't close easily. For example, if you grab something and just give the door a little push 9 times out of 10 the door will not close. We have lost freezer foods because the drawer didn't close all the way and it was NOT evident upon looking.
The final factor is the lack of space. I understand that this is counter depth but the arrangement with the interior icemaker as well as other design features just doesn't leave much practical space on the inside. Also, the freezer compartment is a MESS. Design-wise they could have done something to help with organization. As it is no matter how hard you try to arrange things neatly since everything must be stacked, whenever you get something out you have to move other things around and there goes your neat freezer. I have noticed that other manufacturers have tackled this design issue and made improvements.
Bottom line? I would not purchase this model but would buy a side by side and pay close attention to the quality of the interior body.
We bought this refrigerator to replace an older GE model that was 13 years old. We have always had good luck with GE appliances, and this refrigerator is no exception. It has more space inside than we expected from a cabinet depth and we love the sensor water feature. Overall, very happy with this purchase.
