This refrigerator worked perfect in our kitchen. The door in a door is very handy to have and gives good access to items in the door. Overall it has a good layout for for storing maximum amounts of food items.
I replaced a 10 year old GE Profile stainless steel refrigerator when I was told I was better off replacing it than fixing it when the compressor died. This one was on sale and similar to my old one, which I liked, so I bought it.
I pulled the freezer handle off 2 days after receiving it when opening it to put away groceries. I called the store in which I bought it. They sent someone out to reattach it who said that the handle didn’t go flush with the door and that it couldn’t be fixed. He called the store; they wanted to replace the door. They were already replacing a door that was scratched when store delivered it, so the ordered another me a second (same) fridge and they took back the original one.
The second fridge is better, but, after a few weeks of use, the handle on the freezer doesn’t look flush with the door. I hope it doesn’t come off in my hand when I go to open the freezer like the first one.
The door-in-the-door is cool.
I liked my old fridge better as it had only water in the door and an ice maker in the freezer. This one has very little room on the inside of the fridge doors. The ice goes flying out in a bunch of directions.
The temperature is constant on this fridge. It runs a little loud, but the previous one did, too.
The freezer compartments seem a bit flimsy with the plastic bins. The previous fridge had a grid metal (coated) drawer on top and less flimsy bins on the bottom. I hope these hold up.
Originally ordered this refrigerator about a month ago. It was delivered on a Friday and quit working the next Tuesday. Unit would not cool at all. Knowing that I have always trusted the GE brand, and assuming we just got a lemon, we have had an exact replacement delivered. Unfortunately it took almost two weeks to get the replacement but so far so good.....however it's only been 24 hours. Praying this one will hold up to the GE reputation because the first one was a huge disappointment and inconvenience.
So it’s been all of 10 hours since installation, this is an upgrade from our prior GE Profile refrigerator. Loving the door in a door but will need to figure out the frequently used items vs what we had previously stored on the door shelves. Both the refrigerator and freezer have established their normal settings of 0 & 38 degrees. I like the way the internal lights go from dim to bright based on time the door is open. The ice cube maker has already produced ice and I’m loving the auto fill water dispenser. Now let’s wait 5 and then 10 years and see if the happiness continues...
