I had one of the very first Dyson Ball that came out. I LOVED that vacuum. Unfortunately, pieces broke off and I needed to replace it. The Dyson Ball 3 is a huge transition. It isn’t as solid. I feel as if I’m going to break it every time I use it. I’m trying to get used to it but it will take a while.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good for rugs, (for me) useless otherwise

Decided that it's time to pay the price and get a Dyson, but little did I know that I'll end up being very disappointed with my purchase. After using it once to clean a NYC apartment, this is what I think:
- a chore became a workout - the vacuum is really heavy, takes a strong arm, even on hardwood floors. I'm saying this as a still active athlete.
- hard to maneuver, I feel like I got the hang of it after an hour or so, but I still don't find it easy enough
- the combination of weight and tricky maneuverability puts a lot of stress on the handle, which is quite flimsy, I don't know how long it'll last before it breaks (at least it can be bought separately, out of stock at the moment, though)
- using the hose is the most frustrating thing. The spring inside the hose is too strong, which makes it almost impossible to extend it without the vacuum trying to follow the hose a moment after it's extended. Maybe the spring will loosen up a bit, but my experience was infuriating.
- in order to clean under the bed & sofa, will need to purchase an additional tool (Articulating hard floor tool) which is out of stock at the moment. The tools that come with the machine and the Allergy Cleaning Kit are't articulated so it's impossible to have them flush with the floor when the wand is close to being held horizontally
The only positive I can find for now is that it did a good job on the rugs, hence the 2 stars.
Given all this, I'm seriously considering returning it.

The good and the bad

This is a fantastic vacuum if you have pets with long hair! I have several Afghan Hounds so long hair wrapping around the vacuum head was always an ongoing issue. This Dyson eliminates that problem. Yes it does push hard compared to my other Dyson- big ball, but well worth the extra effort. Apparently Dyson is aware of this and I was told they have a different head available that pushes easier. I fortunately live close to the Dyson repair center in Bloomington,MN and the customer service has been INCREDIBLE! The guys have done everything to make sure we are happy. Hopefully a Territory manager reads this and rewards that team. Hands down the best customer service I have ever experienced anywhere!

Dyson vacuums are good and have great suction but, they only last between two and three years.

Best model ever

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] For the last 18 years we have only bought dysons. This is by far the best one we have. It is super light and picks up more than any of the other ones we have bought. I love how they changed the "clip" that holds on the vacuum head. It is so easy to take on and off. Having 4 females in the house it's nice that hair don't get caught anymore. The attachments continue to get better each time as well.

This vac does a great job on carpet and hardwood floors. However I have long hair dogs that shed alot the vac handles it, but the wand and hose plug way to easy. My old Dyson handled it with ease.

Better than a shark vacuum.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve got a dogs that sheds a lot. It picks up there hair no problem. Has so much suction while running on hard wood floor. It stick to the floor a bit. Everything comes down that my shark vacuum did none of these things.

This is absolutely the best vacuum I’ve ever had! I have three cats and vacuum A LOT! The hardwood setting is a dream because it means I don’t have a sweep liter as much. The carpet setting sucks up cat hair that I didn’t even know was there and it’s super easy to empty the collection canister. My only complaints are it’s weight, its a little heavy considering how slim the design is and it took a little bit to get the hang of how to maneuver effectively. The hose and million attachments are wonderful! But in order to use the hose you have to unwrap the entire cord which can get annoying, but with it I have been able to clean ceiling fans and every nook and cranny of the house!
I would recommend this to a friend!
