Suction is great but hard to maneuver

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This vacuum has a great suction BUT it’s so hard to move side to side and the hardwood setting is still too powerful for all my rugs (ruggables). It also gets really hot on the ball area. I am returning mine because i need something that will go from tile floors to rugs and this vacuum isn’t it. I also don’t like that it doesn’t have a pedal. It automatically unlocks or locks when I don’t want it to. It’s a bummer because I love how powerful it is but the cons outweigh the powerful suction.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We're sorry to hear that we seem to have missed the mark with this machine, and your home. This model does have incredibly strong suction power, and it may not be compatible with all flooring types. It does also feature a quick recline feature which does eliminate the need for pedals to recline your vacuum. We understand that you've decided to return your machine for a refund. Pros and cons

This is my 3rd animal and have to say this one has good and bad features. Pro: The longer cord and additional attachments are nice. It is easier to empty the canister. Con: I don’t like the plastic piece the cord goes around - very flimsy. The quality of the extender is not as sturdy as the previous version. I also am not a fan of the push buttons to recoil that.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Best vacuum

Really great overall. Very few things to not pick about. My girlfriend complains about it being hard to push on carpet, but I haven’t had the same experience. It does tend to push slightly larger items on the floor rather then roll over and suck them up.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Best Dyson, best vacuum available

I purchased my Animal 3 two months ago. I have owned Dyson Vacuum since they were introduced in the US and they were all good but some of the features make this the best. The best advancement is the brush which, having no center support picks up very cleanly. It also is completely redesigned so the pet hair doesn't get stuck in the bristles. With 2 dogs and a cat in the house this is very important. I bought it for the superior suction and it doesn't disappoint. It actually lifts the wall to wall carpet off it's pad so you know it is getting the deep soil out. Yes, it can be hard to push because of the suction but there is a deep carpet setting which relieves some of the force needed. I am 71 years old and manage to push mine on carpet with the middle height setting. I have seen no indication of cheaper plastic being used, but only time will tell if that is true. The oldest Dyson that I haven't given away is over 15 years old and I have made a few repairs to plastic parts but it still runs great. We have a 3 story house and have a vacuum on each floor and I keep and old one in the garage for the cars.

Great but cumbersome

Has lots of power when using as an upright does everything I need except high pile rugs. Even with its high pile settings on, it’s impossible to push the vacuum forward, rather I’m only able to pull it backwards on the rug which is less effective. Very disappointed with that. I’ve had to resume using my cordless v10 for high pile rugs.
When using the attachments the hose is a bit of a challenge to use. The tension on the hose is very strong and requires a bit of muscling around with it. You also really need to prop the upright to keep it from tipping over which over time if not careful can damage the unit. I can work with it but a bit annoying at times.

This tames our beast’s hair, at least

We have a bloodhound and a black cat, both of which shed profusely. This is our third Dyson only because our daughters stole our first two. I think this one is by far the best. Love it!!

No hiding from this vacuum

This is our 4th Dyson and it's by far the best one to date . We have a Bernese mountain dog which means a lot of hair everywhere. This vacuum has so much power, it's unbelievable . The attachment are well though out, I've been going through them in different areas of our home . So far it's been great . The only down side is the noise a tad on the loud side. But ear buds and Spotify work well.
Over all a great purchase thinking about getting a second one for upstairs maybe, next year.

Great suction, tools are hard to use

This vacuum has plenty of power. Sadly most of the attachments just spin around when your trying to use them due to the quick connect nature of them. And the suction power is so strong the hose is constantly being sucked back to the machine when your trying to use it. I bought the most expensive version and now I have a big bag of tools I think I use two of them. The pet hair tool and the tool to get under things. The floor tools way to hard to control. Needs a solid connection point instead of a loose swivel setup.

It's unusual to hear that you've found the attachments aren't either attaching or working properly. They are intended to snap onto the wand or hose, and there should not be any play while using them - they should remain firmly in place. With regard to the hose, I can confirm that we would essentially expect the hose to become more flexible with time and use. A few tips we can provide would be attaching your accessories directly to your hose, as this will also help expedite stretching the elasticity of the hose. Dyson vacuums are engineered with versatility in mind and attachments may be used on either the wand or directly on the machine itself for added convenience.
