I have two long hair dogs. I got an Animal 2 and when it finally broke down (7 years later after almost daily use) I went out and bought a 3 without question. Have been very happy with my “Animals”.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Good but disappointing

The vacuum has great suction as one can expect from a dyson but it comes at the expense of maneuverability in that it is very difficult to push across rugs. It is especially hard on low pile rugs even when you adjust for it via the switch. The location of the switch for adjusting between low pile vs longer and hardwood is on the head of the vacuum so you have to bend over to reach every time which is inconvenient. The hose is also difficult to use because the suction is so strong that the hose doesn’t extend and the vacuum also tips over so the only way I could use it if my partner held the vacuum upright while I tried to stretch it on areas like blinds.
Less of an issue but why the attachments are not labeled is beyond me.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Not worth the price

Hard to maneuver. Hate the way lowers and in turn locks back into upright position. It does have good suction. Poor design, and how you detach the handle from the hose. It’s very awkward and hard to get it back into its position. Instructions were horrible and very lacking. Agree with the previous review on the lack of instructions for the attachments. Way over priced.

Hi there, this is Kelly with Dyson. Thank you for your review; we love to hear and learn from our owners. Your vacuum has a quick recline feature. This will avoid the need for pedals or stepping on the front of the machine to put it into the reclined position, as with our non-ball models. Rolling the unit around from room to room is recommended to be done with the ball instead of the stabilizer wheels on the back of the ball. You can then put the unit upright once you are done with cleaning and for storage. If you find that putting the wand/hose back in to place is difficult, it can be due to the hose getting twisted during use. Removing the wand and refitting the hose back on to the machine can generally resolve this. We'd be happy to help troubleshoot any other issues you're having. Not as good as my old Dyson

I bought this a few months ago so have had plenty of time to try it. Overall I am disappointed. It is much louder and less maneuverable than my last Dyson I had for 10+years. The attachments aren’t very helpful and the wand requires a lot of stent to use as it is heavy and not very flexible. It does have great power and gets the job done but its pretty expensive for a vacuum that feels like a workout and annoys me every time I use it. Major design flaws on this one! wish I could have gotten something like my old Dyson.

Best vacuum

Really great overall. Very few things to not pick about. My girlfriend complains about it being hard to push on carpet, but I haven’t had the same experience. It does tend to push slightly larger items on the floor rather then roll over and suck them up.
I would recommend this to a friend!

For the money I spent, I expected so much more. This vacuum is difficult to push and maneuver. It has a lot of suction. However, overall, I don’t see a difference between other vacuums rated for pets. I’m hoping it grows on me, but I’m not holding out much hope.

Your machine features an Anti-tangle Motorbar™ cleaner head, with suction control. This will allow you to control the three levels of suction, right on the cleanerhead, to suit whichever floor covering you are cleaning. Some homes with thicker or more plush pile carpeting, area rugs or even thicker carpet paddings, may find the machine harder to push due to the more powerful suction. We do suggest checking with your flooring manufacturer for their cleaning instructions - some may suggest against high suction machines or even those with powerful spinning brush bars.
