Love the ice but this is the second unit we have had and both have been very poor quality.

I will give it 2 stars as it worked great for a year. We gave it 5 stars for the year. The ice was great. But all of a sudden I believe the motor stopped working as the light for functions come on but nothing happens. Not a sound from it. I tried looking up maybe a replacement motor if that is the problem but this site doesn’t show anything when I tap on the parts.

Owned 3, All failed too quickly & this website too

Very poor. P4INAASST1SS C5H10 lasted 10 weeks. Like prior 2, states making louder noises, then wouldn’t make ice. After cleaning and vinegar.

Ice is great. This is my second opal and again it's overrun with black mold and stuck with the add water light. I have taken meticulous care of this one. I've never missed a clean cycle or a descale in the 2 years I've owned this one. I wish these machines would last more than a year or two before going to the junkyard. Such a waste. The ice is great. It's exactly what you want. But be aware you will be purchasing a replacement in two years no matter how well you care for it.

Nice Ice, Machine Needs Work

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have some mixed feelings on this machine. First off, it’s quite large. I have a pretty big kitchen and it was hard to find a place for it because of its size and requirements. This is mostly due to it opening at the top, which means it can’t fit underneath any of my upper cabinets or I wouldn’t be able to open the lid to access the ice. Once I found a spot, it was very easy to set up and clean, and it began producing ice within 20 minutes of being turned on. The ice is soft and crunchy, though in much smaller pellets than I anticipated. I especially like them after they've had a little time to melt. It took about 3 hours of use to use up all 3 quarts of water from the regular basin. The components all feel sturdy and of good quality, but I did have a major issue with the sound. While it’s running, it sounds like a dishwasher. It’s not the most annoying thing in the world and certainly can just seem like white noise after a while, but if you’re listening out for it, you can definitely hear it. However, the first time I used it, it started HOWLING within 2 hours of use. Not squeaking like they say can be normal, I’m talking it sounded like a cat screaming, or like my house was haunted. It was SO loud, and the only way to stop it was to unplug it completely for a while. It hasn’t done it since, and I’ve run it upwards of 8 hours at a time, so I’m not sure if it was just a one-time issue, but it was so bizarre and loud I had to mention it. So, while I do love the nugget ice it produces and think it's an efficient, easy to use item, the size, opening at the top, and strange sounds leave something to be desired.

Very nice machine!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have always loved getting soft drinks from places that have this type of nugget ice. Now, I get it at home anytime that I want it. The ice machine works flawlessly to make perfect ice nuggets. It is very simple to setup and operate. It is fairly large, so it will take up a decent amount of counter space. It stores a large amount of ice and refills itself pretty quickly.
The one complaint (Hence the 4 star review) that I have about this machine is that it is fairly loud when it is making ice. It has a loud humming sound and sometimes a small rattle inside that will go on for 10 minutes or longer and can get annoying. It isn't a deal breaker though as it is an awesome ice machine, but if you have it in a quiet area, it is definitely noticeable when it is running.
Overall, this machine is fantastic and a very cool addition to your kitchen or bar area. I get a lot of compliments on how cool it looks too.
