I can not accurately provide a rating for the JBL Charge 5 because I purchased it as a Christmas gift for my daughter so it hasn't been used yet. However, I gave it a 3 star rating for it's style/design.

Sounds great but...

It’s sounds great. Battery life is great. But there is no difference between 4and 5 sound wise.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great Sound, Long Lasting Battery!

I've had the speaker for around a couple weeks now, and I've got to say, the sound quality is great! Put it in the middle of the room and it's very good, put it in a corner allowing for the sound to bounce off the walls, and it sounds freaking great! The ability to charge your phone is very handy to have if your outside working on yard-work or something. The only complaint I have with it is the price, which is obviously very high, but for all the stuff you get its pretty decent.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Worth the Purchase

After a long search for a quality speaker, this is the best overall portable speaker. Although the style is a little less appealing but the sound is great for a 30W speaker. I can listen to any genre as the sound stage has punchy bass, decent mids, and clear highs that will not create a muddy tone (compared to the sound stage of the Marshall Bluetooth speakers). Compared to the charge 4, you get a separate tweeter, Bluetooth v5.1 (compared to v4.0), and now a part of JBL Partyboost to connect with other speakers. The IPX rating has decreased since the charge 4 from IPX7 to IPX67. To note, there is no charger in the box, just the cable and some booklets are included. In the end, this a great speaker for all occasions.

This product is by far the best out there the quality feels as though you have a surround sound system. You can travel with this speaker anywhere and the charge last for 20 hours thats great. Thank you!

Sound is Good for the Size

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Had small backyard bbq and it was Good for the area that we were in. The Vocals were clear highs and mids were there but the Bass was just Ok (for the size). The battery life was good for the mid to low volume that we kept it at for the 4+ hours were outside enjoying the weather. The controls are intuitive and the pairing to my wife's iPhone was easy. The sound is definite an improvement over my Flip4. As far as the size goes, it is bigger than the Flip but I didnt find it bulky.
