Honing steels need to be harder than the steel of the knife. This steel is designed to work with Japanese steel knives to keep them burr free and straight between sharpenings.

This is one of the best sharpening steels in the market place. It is made out of Tungsten steel which is one of the strongest metals made. It is perfect to keep Miyabi knives sharp. There is a unique magnetic feature that helps collects small metal particles that are removed from knife blade when honing. Handle is comfortable even when pressure is applied.

Keeps my knives sharp

It has taken a little practice and an educational video, but I know how to use this steel and keep my knives sharp. Use of the steel is a simple process, I'm bringing the blade back to a point. If you use this once a week or whenever your knife doesn't feel sharp, then you will have sharp knives for a long time. This steel sharpens my Japanese knives as well as my German knives.

This is a great accessory to keep your Miyabi blades sharp and maintained. It’s so easy to use, if you don’t feel comfortable there is a ton of YouTube videos that show you how to use it properly.
