The Dotson ball we bought works great. The only think I don’t like is how easily it pops out of the upright position. When I move it across the floor it will often pop off the transport wheel position.

Dyson Ball Animal 3 is another amazing upright.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been an avid user of the Dyson Ball Upright vacuums for almost 2 decades. I have purchased 3 uprights over that time because I vacuum every day. The first thing you will always notice about any Dyson Ball upright is the shear suction power. The Dyson Ball Animal 3 is no exception to that. The ball pivot feature on all the uprights was always the game changer for me when I purchased my first Dyson Upright. Until you have experienced the ball pivot of a Dyson you have no idea how stiff and un-maneuverable your current vacuum is. It is like night and day. The Dyson Ball Animal 3 once again proves the ease of vacuuming with the ball pivot feature. Putting the Dyson Ball Animal 3 together took less then 5 minutes. It was fast and extremely easy and straightforward. The simplicity of these vacuums always amazes me. I also like the fact that it is packed very efficiently with minimal cardboard, no styrofoam and very limited plastic which is always a bonus for the environment. So, one of the strengths of the Dyson Ball Animal 3 for me, and all the upright models, is how fantastic it is to use because I have very bad seasonal and dust allergies. Vacuums in the past that had replaceable bags always had a dusty smell while I vacuumed because they could never be fully sealed, and dust definitely got into the air when I vacuumed. With the Dyson Ball Animal 3 you have the clear canister which is tightly sealed with no odor at all and no escaping dust particles in the air. I can always see what is being sucked up into the canister of the vacuum and I know when it needs to be emptied. My other vacuums I would not know when the bag was full until it had minimal suction, would no longer pickup any debris or would dump the debris back onto my carpet or flooring because the bag was full. Emptying the canister for me is simple and easy, just a push of the button. The canister detaches and reattaches very easily. The wand release is one of my favorite features of the upright models of which the Dyson Ball Animal 3 is no expectation. If you live in an area with baseboard heating this feature along with the combination tool is a game changer. It makes cleaning baseboards quick and easy and allows me to get behind some, if not most, of my furniture. Because I also have the Dyson Ball Multi Floor UP13 which replaced my DC65, I was able to do a little comparison for those who may be choosing between the Dyson Ball Animal 3 or a Dyson Ball Multi Floor model. The combination tool on the Dyson Ball Animal 3 is several inches longer which is a great feature. It will allow you to access more area with the crevice feature by pushing the bristly piece down towards the bottom of the tool. The staircase tool is exactly the same on both models. The head of the Dyson Ball Animal 3 is taller, and the rolling brush head inside is much thicker. The width of the head of the Dyson Ball Animal 3 is a few inches shorter than the Dyson Ball Multi Floor UP13. So, there are a few areas in my house like under some pieces of furniture and cabinetry that the Animal 3 head will not fit but because of the quick release wand and attachment tools it is not an issue. The Dyson Ball Animal 3 has 3 settings on the head which allows me to adjust to two different carpet piles and a floor setting. My home has a lot of carpeting along with hardwood flooring, tile and blue stone in our front foyer. So, this model handles any of those areas throughout my home. My final thoughts…if we were in a perfect world our appliances would last forever. But that is not the case. One of the major features of buying a Dyson vacuum for me was the 5-year warrantee. One of the best in the industry. I have never had an issue dealing with customer service if something is not working or broken on my vacuum. They know the vacuums inside and out and literally have walked me through step by step to check everything in order to eliminate what is and is not working. And when they discover the problem, they ship out the part immediately. I also have a super amazing Dyson repair location in my state in Southborough. Top notch repair service and also when I needed to replace my last vacuum they were extremely helpful and honest. Dyson definitely backs their products and that is what keeps me coming back.

Best vacuum I have ever owned! I own an Irish Setter who sheds a bit and gone are the days of me continually having to cut the hair out of the brushes - I LOVE IT!

I’ve tried a couple of different brands after my first Dyson died. Nothing compares. They are pricey, but you get what you pay for. Hopefully this one outlast the other which I had for 12 years.

great for dog hair

This thing pulls more dirt than I knew existed, and it just about sucks the paint off the walls.
It is, actually, so strong that it appears to be stretching my carpet and causing rolls and I believe has caught edges between the carpet and tile and caused some unraveling. Yes, my carpet is older and should like be replaced by it still looks great so I am not loving what's happening here. Also, it's really heavy and can be hard to maneuver to use the cleaning tools.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

No clog head works great. The attachments from our old Dyson animal (still working fine) also fit this one. Have owned 3 Dyson's over 20 years and wouldn't buy a different brand.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This vacuum has the strongest suction of any vacuum I have ever owned. It almost felt hard to push around on my carpet cause the suction is so powerful. I can’t tell if it was really the suction that was making it hard to push or if it just needs to be broken in a bit more. It has all the same features as my previous Dyson Animal but the intake port looks a bit wider with a bigger roller. I think this helped to get all the hair actually suctioned into the dust compartment instead of it wrapping around the rollers. There is much more hair in the dirt compartment than with my previous Dyson. I love how easy it is to remove and empty the dust compartment. And the filters are amazing, not the standard filter you would normally see that just gets clogged up with dirt. It works really well on hard wood floors and tile and doesn’t just blow the dirt around but really pulls it in makes it easy to get everything picked up. The cord is standard length which in my opinion is not long enough. I know this vacuum will last me a long time and am very pleased with it.

Have 2 wooly coated Siberian Huskies and their hair is all over everywhere. Their hair is no match for this model. The self cleaning brush head really works! The hair never tangles around it. I don't have to clean the brushes like I do with my Dyson powerhead.
