Hearing Is Believing

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My significant other is adamant about his electronics (toys) and I hate to say it, but it's rubbed off on me over the years. I didn't even know the difference between a general soundbar and a full surround sound experience, I thought they were all the same with minor improvements and whatnots, similar to an updated mobile phone. But, thanks to Samsung's HW-Q800D Soundbar with Dolby Atmos/DTS:X, I can confidently say, I’ve seen the light. But that’s enough of my awakening and revelation of soundbars and their capabilities, so here it goes.
For starters, this unit is definitely heftier than most soundbars I’ve dealt with in the past, especially to the prior Sony soundbar we’ve been using over the years, but even with its heft, it is sleek and very adaptable to most set ups. And I’ll be honest, I was skeptical about the whole “Dolby Atoms” title on a two speaker set up since a good handful of companies are utilizing the technology, but wow was I wrong to doubt what Samsung’s been able to produce with this HW-Q800 line. At certain points, it feels like sorcery, it’s amazing to me how immersive of a feel they’re able to produce with this product with just a soundbar and a subwoofer, it really feels like there are more speakers in the room when there really aren’t. Additionally, for those individuals who want an even more immersive feel, you have the to option of adding rear speakers offered by Samsung to this unit if you choose. Before I go further into some of the stand out features of this device, I must state that having a compatible Samsung TV will definitely increase your experience with the Q-Symphony feature, but I digress. This unit supports 4K HDR passthrough as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for wireless connectivity. You can control the unit with the provided remote control or with the use of Samsungs SmartThings app as well as your preferred voice assistants. Also, if you happen to be a gamer, you’re in luck since the HW-800D comes preinstalled with several sound modes including a Game Mode, so you’ll have a good time with that, or you can customize it to your liking depending on what you’re actually attempting to utilize it for, so everyones a winner in that regard.
Other than that, I won’t bore you with additional specifications and my opinions about the Samsung HW-Q800D Soundbar with Dolby Atmos/DTS:X. Instead, what I would recommend is to take it for a test drive yourself, since hearing is believing, and for what it’s worth, I will admit, I definitely am a believer now.

It has a great sound but could be better

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had the opportunity to test this item at home and we have subjected it to all kinds of tests, the first thing I did was connect it to my phone and then to the television. In my opinion it is a very large and heavy item for the service it offers. Although it has a clear sound, impressive and very enveloping bass, the volume is not high enough for its size. Its installation is easy but you are practically forced to have a piece of furniture with space to install the bar since due to its size you could not simply put it under the television because it steals part of the screen if you put it in front and it is not too big to be underneath. For example, I wanted to try it on the TV in the living room, which is where we share the most, and I couldn't find a way to make room for the bar on my furniture. I would have to put it somewhere else or change furniture to be able to use it in my room. The built-in screen can be confusing when configuring bar options. Overall it is a very good product with incredible sound.
As the days go by, I find more spectacular features and some bugs too. First the good:
About the Dolby Atmos surround sound, definitely WOW! I would like to have a chair with movement in my house to feel completely like in a movie theater, it is a unique experience with very vivid sounds.
about the Q-Symphony function I couldn't test it because my television is not compatible.
about the sound from the rear speakers up/side, if you have your bar well placed this will make your room a complete movie theater as the sounds will come from everywhere.
About the SpaceFit Sound Pro is how having a sound engineer adapting your bar to your environment analyzes the sound signals to offer you an ideal sound experience for each scene is magical!
Seeing the face of my daughter and her friends while they play their video games with Game Mode Pro is priceless, the bass in special moments is incredible. Finally, with the active voice amplifier function, the dialogue will be clarified and that will help you hear Conversations on screen clearly amidst a variety of background noises.
About the Dolby Atmos surround sound, definitely WOW! I would like to have a chair with movement in my house to feel completely like in a movie theater, it is a unique experience with very vivid sounds.

Now the uncomfortable thing is that sometimes the connection with the TV and Apple TV is slow and can disconnect several times

Great sound bar

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Samsung Soundbar Q800D is my very first sound bar. Our living room is not big and this sound bar is perfect for its size. Set up is a breeze (according to my husband). It is Amazing, Love these speakers! Offering a rich and immersive experience, stunning mids and highs. Bass frequencies are tight and clear, not muddy. Its Dolby Atmos and DTS:X technologies deliver room-filling, dimensional sound that is incredibly lifelike. The clarity is amazing, I can only imagine how they’ll sound when my Q-Symphony Samsung TV arrived (Fatherday!).
The design is sleek and modern and feel solid making it a striking addition to any entertainment setup. The sound bar is also feature rich easily connecting to our TV with an HDMI eARC and wirelessly with Amazon Alexa. Additionally, the wireless Sub make placement of the speaker a breeze-clutter free installation.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Samsung Doesn't Disappoint!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Q800D Soundbar is mind blowing with how clear and satisfying it sounds. I have a few Samsung sound bars and I can't believe how Samsung keeps raising the bar (lol) every time. This soundbar shines with Dolby Atmos content, the immersion is surprisingly better than some home theater setups that are much more expensive. I wish there were more HDMI inputs on the soundbar and that it could support waking up when using a PC. But other than that, this soundbar has modern features that'll work in any smart home ecosystem.

Great product and value for cost

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had never purchased a soundbar or had one in our home and wanted to get the opportunity to put one upstairs in our loft area. The sound is incredible and we have listened to music on there as well as watched movies. I’m impressed with the quality considering the cost and would highly recommend this product. I’m excited to see the longevity of the product and test other features but as of now I’m quite happy with my purchase and would do it over again. Setup was also incredibly easy and the provided instructions were not hard to follow at all. The Q-symphony feature is my favorite in that it provides a deep and rich sound, especially when we are watching movies with the soundbar. Also the voice amplifier function is nice because as there is background noise im still able to hear audio clearly from what the soundbar is producing. Lastly the Dolby Atmos surround sound is some of the best out there, you get theater quality output for sound that captures low voices well and really amplifies the loud sounds too.

Excellent sound in the right spaces...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Samsung HW-Q800D is magic in the right spaces. In my master bedroom, this soundbar truly sings, whether watching a movie, playing games, or listening to music. Connecting to it via my SmartThings setup was a breeze, enabling ease of control. I do not have a 4k tv or Dolby Atmos compatible receiver, so I had to hook it up through my gaming device to be able to fully test and access the higher end sound features. From the confines of my large master bedroom, this unit truly performed without having to ramp up the volume, making you feel like you are wrapped up in the action from all sides. I definitely noticed differences in the settings between movies and gaming in my master bedroom setup.
The downside for me was when I took it into my living room, which is a large open format ranch style space, with Living Room, Dining Room, Kitchen and Front Room spaces all conjoined and flowing into each other. When hooked up in this space, I really had to turn up the volume to a point where it was too loud for others in the adjoining spaces in order for me to get the same surrounded feel from this soundbar as I had in my master bedroom space. SpaceFit Sound didn’t seem to help in this vacuous space, and toggling between the various sound options while playing different options: (IE: Movie, Gaming, or Music) felt like it had only super subtle difference in sound quality. It was in this larger sweeping space that my older surround sound system had better results with less volume required to envelop me.
That being said, I still fully recommend this soundbar for all types of audio uses if you have a more conventional enclosed or smaller space. I will be moving this unit back into my bedroom or downstairs into my game room. But for those who have larger more open flowing spaces, this unit may not be the best fit/bang for the buck.
