Don't waste your money

This unit will not pass through a 4K 120 refresh rate signal. Your TV picture may look sharper and refresh faster without this unit.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I’m sorry to hear that your Samsung HW-Q800D Soundbar did not meet your expectations.
The HW-Q800D Soundbars pass-throughs do not feature HDMI 2.1 pass-throughs and can only produce 4K at 60hz video. If you are looking for a Soundbar with a 4K 120hz refresh rate, the Samsung HW-Q990D features HDMI 2.1 pass-throughs.

Inconsistent volume

The volume on this soundbar is inconsistent between channels, shows and even scenes. Sometimes I need to watch something with the remote in hand as I am constantly lowering or raising the volume. Music is playing and its loud, so I need to turn volume down. Next scene has dialogue, and volume is so low I have to turn up volume to hear it. Sound is great when volume is ok but it's a chore to constantly change volume. It is connected to a new Samsung TV and without the soundbar, volume is fine.

You may want to try changing the sound mode to Adaptive Sound. Adaptive Sound analyzes the content in real-time and automatically provides an optimal sound field based on the characteristics of the content. Additionally, turning on Dynamic Range Control (DRC) may help. With DRC turned on, loud sounds will be reduced.
1) Turn off your Soundbar.
2) While the Soundbar is off, press and hold the Sound Mode button on the remote control for 6 seconds until you see “DRC ON” shown on the display.
3) To turn off DRC, repeat steps 1 and 2 above.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Samsung Soundbar Q800D is exceptional, offering a rich and immersive experience. Its Dolby Atmos and DTS:X technologies deliver room-filling, dimensional sound that is incredibly lifelike. The design is sleek and modern, making it a striking addition to any entertainment setup. For our first movie, we took the soundbar for a spin watching the Musical, The Color Purple. The speakers did a great job enveloping the cricket sounds in the scenes were the characters were in the woods. You felt as if the crickets were truly around you. The highlight of the whole system is the massive subwoofer, offering a rich, and clean bass. The sound bar is also feature rich easily connecting to our whole house google Home speaker group, offers Amazon Alexa which we had never used prior to this. Additionally, while the system does not have rear speakers, the detailed sound profile allows you to avoid having them, keeping clutter to a minimum while still offering a sound rich experience. The soundbar is definetly heavy but we were still able to mount it under the TV using 3rd party VESA mounts.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Amazing Sound Quality

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Samsung is a GREAT brand once it’s been installed attached to my Samsung TV and the music started flowing. I was amazed by the sound, it sounded so similar to when you go into an entertainment center store and the sounds so perfect there but when you get home, it’s completely different. Well look no further this brand is outstanding and the sound quality is going to make your jaw drop. If you’re a gamer this is a must have. The size of the subwoofer is a perfect fit. The volume is extremely high and continues to sound great and I would say it can actually host a bigger gathering/party, if in case that’s what you’re looking for. I’m very pleased and happy. I made the selection. It will work great for my family and not to mention when it comes to family movie night I know that subwoofer is going to scare the living crap out of us when it comes to a scary movie.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Nice sound, attractive, and affordable

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] While opening the soundbar I was suprized by the weight of it, the thing is solid! The next thing i realized after setting it on my tv stand is how good looking it is. The installation was extremely easy. Just hook the hdmi to the Earc port on my tv and plugged in the power. The tv and soundbar did the rest of the setup for me.
Now for the sound. I started off watching an f1 race and the sound was incredible. Nice and clear and a MAJOR improvement over my tvs built in speakers. Speaking of my tvs speakers this soundbar supports Q-symphony which uses you tvs speakers to farther enhance the surround effect of the sound bar. This combination along with the upward and side firing speakers and it sound like your at the race with engine noise echoing from all around you.
A future this soundbar has that I didn't initially realize is that it will actually make the voices of people speaking on the tv louder if it senses the room is noisy. It's subtle but it's definitely there. I believe it's called active voice amplifier.
Next thing I tried out was some music. This is where the clear and crisp sound really shined through. I regularly listen to piano and classical violin and the soundbar was great for this.
There is also I feature called soudfit pro which is supposed to adjust the volume and firing of the speakers to fit the room. It didn't make much difference for me but my sound bar is in a very large open kitchen/living area.
Overall I was extremely impressed with the overall quality and sound of the device. I would definitely recommend it for someone looking to improve the stock speakers on there tv.
