Sound is good, not great

Hi Chipper, Thank you for taking a moment to review the HW-Q800D Soundbar. To improve your audio experience, the HW-Q800D features a wide range of sound modes and settings allowing you to fine tune the sound to your liking. Pressing the SOUND CONTROL button on your remote allows you to select the desired sound effect. You can select Spacefit sound, AVA, Voice Enhance mode, Night mode, Sync, Surround speaker mode, and Virtual. The desired item can be adjusted using the Up/Down buttons. Alternatively, with the sound mode set to standard, press and hold the SOUND CONTROL button for about 5 seconds to adjust the sound for each frequency band. 150Hz, 300Hz, 600Hz, 1.2kHz, 2.5kHz, 5kHz, and 10kHz are selectable using the Left/Right buttons and each can be adjusted to a setting between -6 to +6 using the Up/Down buttons. You can adjust the Treble and Bass by pressing the TONE CONTROL button then use the UP/DOWN buttons to change the levels between -6 to +6. Quality sounds not as good as other products

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This specific series does not have the same quality as other previous Samsung sound systems I have had in the past, despite having more tech and being built with better quality materials. The best sound, I think, is when playing a movie, but in general, it does not sound really good, especially when listening to music; it sounds like an empty box.

Great addition to your TV

With Q-Symphony on, the sound is rich and immersive, and you really only notice the difference when you turn it off — everything feels flat without it. Great for movies, sports, and music. Not 5 stars because sometimes it’s get disconnected from the TV for some reason.

Easy Setup - Sounds Good

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Setup way easy. My Samsung QN90D TV instantly recognized the soundbar and faithfully sets the TV to Q-Symphony mode at every startup. Mids and highs are very good. Bass via the sub is okay. I have the sub set at +5 and it is satisfactory. +6 made it a bit too muddy. I left the mids and highs at default boost settings. Pseudo-surround, as I call it, is marginal. I'll be procuring SWA-9500S rear speakers, soon, for more authentic surround sounds. Very happy overall and would purchase again.

We appreciate you taking a few moments to review the HW-Q800D Soundbar.
If the video on the TV and audio from the soundbar are not synchronized, press the SOUND CONTROL button on the soundbar remote, until you see AUDIO SYNC on the display. You can then set the audio delay between 0~300 milliseconds by using the Up/Down buttons.
You can also try the below to minimize the delay: 1) Connect the source directly to the Soundbar’s HDMI input, then connect the Soundbar to the HDMI ARC input on the TV. 2) On the TV, set the Sound Delay level to 0. Home > Settings > Sound > Expert Settings > Digital Output Audio Delay: “0” 3) Change the audio format to PCM on both the source device and the TV.
