Great tool! Only problem I got is the screw holding the tools in came out. And of course it fell out where I can't find it.

Broken again

I received the first one about 9 months ago and one of the claws sheared off and was launched by the spring assembly while using them. SOG replaced them and about two months into that the spring assembly broke on that one. I have not requested a replacement for the item this time as I do not believe it is the right tool for me.

I was quite happy with my switch plier untill I tried to take it to the next level. When I tried to use the wire cutters on a single strand of galvanized wire the handle torqued to one side and broke the connection to the pliers/head. All other tools are excelent and the knife was super sharp like every other SOG knife I own.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought this tool about 3 days ago. VERY first time I used it the hinge broke. Was very surprised by this because I own a few power locks and have NEVER had an issue with anything on them. I didn't expect it to perform like a powerlock, but with the amount of pressure I put on it, I think my 5 year old daughter could have broke it. Although this is a very nice looking and feeling tool, the pliers are not what I expected from SOG. I still love my power locks but this may shy me away from new products. It appears to me that this issue is something that should have absolutely been found and fixed during testing.

This is an outstanding plier multitool that doesn't take up a lot of space. I broke the internal spring packing this in some checked luggage. Sent it to SOG hoping for a repair, and they sent a new tool out to me. I will never buy any other knife or multitool as long as SOG is around.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I bought the switch plier a month ago mainly to replace my aging flash MT which I use every day. The auto opening plier is a good feature. The deployment is great and function is good. The problem lies with the safety of blade deployment. The plier must be open to deploy the blade. But then you must close the plier which takes both hands. Both of which come close to or in direct contact with the blade. When you’re done using the blade, you have to switch the plier out again and reverse the process thus doubling your chances to cut a finger or hand. The multitool is well made and for occasional use, I’m sure it’d work fine, but I work with mine all day and can’t afford clumsy operation or the increased chance of an accident

Switch plier , the first day it pinched my skin , breaking and bruising it. The plier won't lock. Huge disappointment. I figured it was my fault, but it really bit into my thumb. Fool me twice. It now is in limbo until I decide if I'm gonna give it away , or toss it. Waste of money , unless you don't like your skin.
