I have had mine for a long time, and I promised one to my grandson and could not find one. I was looking on the internet and saw them, so I went and bought 4 for each of my grandsons. Recently found out my youngest son and wife are having a baby boy so I will be buying another one soon. Great Multi Tool! Use is for general maintenance, as well as fishing and hunting. One hand operation is an advantage for doing many tasks!

No More Fish Lost to the Lack of a Free Hand!!!

The only things that could possibly make this better would be an included, fitted sheath, and a better eyelet/loop for connecting it to a lanyard. It has already become my favorite piece of fly fishing equipment. Keeping pressure on the line while bringing in a trout is essential. Having a pair of pliers or forceps dangling with the tips ready to gouge you in the stomach or leg isn't my favorite thing. Other multi-tools just can't be readied easily without using both hands. I've been looking for something like this for a long time. Glad SOG finally managed to get this on the shelf at the store (so to speak... they appear to be in such demand that backordering online might be the only way to get one).

The quality of the components is top notch, but opening and using the tool is difficult.

Excellent plier

Although the plier is top notch and I love it, the blades all stick together and open at the same time. I do not like serrated blades but there is no other option and it would be nice if the blades could open without raising the plier handle first. Overall, SOG quality is excellent and I will continue buying SOG products.

Improvement over the original SwitchPliers, but...

The SwitchPlier 2.0 is a good improvement over the original SwitchPlier, but still needs further work. My EDC of the SwitchPlier 2.0 has revealed two issues.
The addition of a belt clip on the 2.0 is welcomed, but the strength of the spring tension in the belt clip where it is secured to the body of the SwitchPlier 2.0 is lacking, for I have had to re-bend it several times now. I'm considering returning it to SOG.
If your have the SwitchPlier 2.0 in your pocket either with or without the use of the pocket clip. the SwitchPlier 2.0 by itself will frequently deploy the pliers head within your pocket.
This could be remedied by a safety lock (i.e. like the ones on several of the SOG folding knives) or a sliding cover over the pliers head deployment button.
Good step forward from the original design of the SwitchPlier, but not there yet.

Nice handy tool for everyday use in the field. I would have given it a perfect score except the tools don't appear as indestructible as other SOG tools.

Multi tool

Switch plier , I needed a good multi tool , easy to use , and easy to get the tools out of the body in cold weather , I have used this tool for three years I work as an agricultural engineer , work on plant and axillary equipment , I carry it every day and use it on small jobs , I fail to see how you can break a multi tool of good quality , any multi tool is a light duty tool , it's for changing bulbs on a trailer , cutting cable ties , help with wiring issues , the little jobs , which they are great for , I have other makes , but I have issues with how to get a blade out in cold weather conditions , nail nics are difficult , but on this tool you can get all the blade tools out and sort out what you want , and the fast action of the plier is good , all of these type of multi tool are not a replacement for a good work tool , it's a stand by , light duty tool , for small tasks , I have now carried a multi tool for 30 years , and given away a few that did not make the grade , from all the main US makes and Swiss ! I use two sog , the switch pliers , and the small micro-tool both are good , and two from victorianox the Swiss tool , but I carry the switch pliers evey day , people would not break tools if they use them for the correct job !

Haven't been able to use this in any significant way since it's a recent purchase, but it seems well thought out and stout. It's not much bulkier in the pocket than a large pocket knife, but is slightly heavier which is to be expected with all the hardware and price point .
