skip it - network options are horrible

These things are not designed to work well in a large environment. We have 100's of the 440 Turbo's on the network with print servers, and I was happy to see that the 550's had integrated NIC's to simplify the deployment. That is not the case. You have to use the Dymo connect software and directly usb connect the printer to a device to manage the IP settings, instead of easily being able to web manage the device remotely.

They messed up.

Bought this yesterday, addition to my 450 Turbo, but has to use their own labels, returning it tomorrow.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Get the Labelwriter 450 instead of this.

I needed a new printer for work since my old 400 died. When I purchased this I spent an hour trying to figure out why it wouldn't print. Come to find out, all of my old rolls of labels are incompatible with the 550. I found a 450 for cheap and just stuck with that. It was infuriating and there's no need outside of greed for Dymo to do this. Plus the printer app is terribly laid out. Either buy an old Dymo printer or one from another brand.

Bad upgrade

I own a veterinary clinic and I have used older dymo label makers to print my prescription labels for years. They have always been reliable and easy to use. Not the case with this machine. It is difficult to set up. If you want to register the machine you have to take a picture of it then upload it but the website won't let the picture upload (despite being considerable smaller than max size). There isn't a notch on bottom of machine to allow cord to stick out so its constantly be jostled and falls outs. It will only run on Dymo labels which are considerably more expensive and do not come in the size I need so I have to use the continuous label which is hard to tear.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Proprietary Labels - Dumping DYMO

We are a software author that supported DYMO printers. We will not be supporting DYMO in the future unless the proprietary label requirement is dropped. The proprietary label requirement (only 'authentic' DYMO labels can be used) is a DEAL KILLER for our customers, who many times create custom labels for their businesses.
DYMO, please look at these reviews and come up with a change to allow generic labels to be used. Otherwise, people will go elsewhere, as we are forced to do. We've helped sell 1,000s of DYMO printers over the years. Future forecast=0 unless the proprietary label requirement is dropped.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Went to purchase 5 of these, went for 450 instead

We went to purchase 5 of these new Dymo printers, but ended up going with older 450's due to the Dymo Genuine label feature. We have custom made labels that are a special size and color for our use. This printer is configured to only allow Dymo branded labels. Huge fail on Dymo.

Super easy to connect and very fast

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We upgraded from our old Dymo label to this new Dymo LabelWriter 550 Turbo and so far we have been very happy with it. Not only is it much faster than the old one but network connection makes our lives much easier since multiple users can now have access to the label printer.
Setting up was very easy thanks to the Dymo software and we were able to start printing in no time.
People are complaining that this new Printer will not accept non Dymo labels but that was not an issue for us since we have always been using Dymo labels.
All in all, we are all very pleased with our new Dymo label printer, it is a huge upgrade from our old one and it has been saving us a lot of time and for that, it gets a 5 stars rating from us.
I would recommend this to a friend!
