Frustrating with broken software

Since this only comes with USB, I have it set up on a generic print server. I can add the printer just fine in Windows, I can print from Microsoft Word but none of the Dymo Connect software works. It sees the printer (twice!), it claims to print but nothing works. Additionally, in every version of Dymo connect, the "change label size" button does nothing, so you are stuck with the generic tiny address label.

I would like to inform you that third-party print servers have not been tested by DYMO and are not officially supported. Please double-check if you have the latest version of DYMO Connect that is compatible with your operating system. You may also install the DYMO Label Software that is still available on our website. In order to change the label type on DYMO Connect, you would have to click on the New button that is located on the upper left-hand corner.

Was a 5-Star Until I saw the update

I have been using this label printer for years on a Win7 PC with NO issues at all. I actually own 3. After many years of straight forward usage I was left beyond dissapointed. First the postage printing vendor changed the rules and left me with $100 of useless postage supplies, but that was ok still because I could still print labels. However, when I was forced to upgrade to Windows 10 and saw the new version of the software the 5-star dropped to a No-Star. It used to integrate with an Outlook plug-in, and allowed for very simple easy to use, on-the-fly adjustments - worked like a charm. Now I have to log-in to O365 every time I want to pull-in a contact record. I cannot quickly batch select from my outlook contacts. Perfect product if you print one label many times, but otherwise I don't understand the decision to make this software useless. I am so annoyed with trying to print 20 labels that I gave up just to come write this review. I may as well go back to buying Avery label sheets...
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

However, please note that DYMO Label Software v. 8.7.4 will not get any further updates, as our primary software now is DYMO Connect.

Buggy Software!

Have had several problems like the address correction suddenly stopped working a while back. Then it started to print three to six blank labels when I printed a single label. Now I just heard the printer turn on by itself (I was in another room) and by the time I got to the printer to check on it it had printed the entire roll of labels with thin horizontal and vertical lines. What has happened to this once fine company?
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Please note that DYMO Label v.8 Software is not our leading software for Windows. We recommend you to use the new DYMO Connect software that has the Address Fixer functionality ready and running. You can download it directly from the DYMO software Dymo.com. Additionally, the printer feeding thin horizontal and vertical lines usually mean that the front cover is not attached properly. Please remove the cover and re-attach it making sure you hear clicks at the four corners of the printer. If you are still having issues, please do not hesitate to give our technical support team a call at 877-724-8324 Monday to Friday 9am-5pm EST and we will be happy to assist you. Printer is printing labels of lines and blanks

All of a sudden my Dymo 450 Twin Turbo has started feeding through blank labels after I have printed one label, causing me to throw out many labels. Today, the right side, which has smaller labels, just started printing of these lined labels and would not stop. I had to open the cover and rip the labels so they would stop. Your printers use to be my favorite peripheral device, but what is happening now is very frustrating. I would have rated this printer a 5 in the past, but now it seems to have a brain of its own. Labels are too expensive for this to be happening constantly. If you can tell me how to correct this problem, I'll go back to highly recommending it, but can't now.

Printing blank lines and spitting many labels is because of printer stuck in self test mode, it happens when one of the front button was press and hold for 7 - 10 seconds. To get out of this unplug the printer from both computer and power, then press the front button 20 times and try printing. Your valuable feedback is important for us to improve ourselves.

Lousey application software

The LabelWriter 450 Twin Turbo printer works great when used with a decent software package. The current DYMO Connect application sucks by not opening with Win 11. It appears to boot but upon the application opening the user interface immediately terminates. My older DYMO label application software worked just great with my current Win 11 OS and then all the address lists disappeared with no trace. This occurred once before. I have been put out of business by a lousy DYMO printer application. Why can't DYMO make the older software available for those who have learned to use same. Roll your dice if you download DYMO Connect.

DO NOT USE THE CONNECT SOFTWARE--IT SUCKS

Since 2000, I have owned and used LABELWRITER 450 TWIN TURBO DYMOs. I have one at work and two at home in 2 different locations. Because I have ADHD, these are a tremendous support. I use them as my memory and, believe me, I label everything, as well as using them for the usual boring tasks like postal labels and return address labels. I keep all my passwords in a separate file, as well as credit card info, etc. All of those storage boxes in the basement are labeled on 3 sides with a shipping label. You can't believe how much time it saves me to see what is in boxes stored in the garage and basement, as well as my many sewing and hobby supplies.
Having said that, I have to agree with JJones review that the new CONNECT software truly SUCKS and wastes time. It is not as flexible as the simple, original "Label Software" that I strongly prefer. Call Label Software legacy or call it whatever you want, but delete the CONNECT software if you downloaded it.
PRO-TIP: If you need or want to be a power user (i.e., you hardly have time to go to the bathroom at work), then buy extra spindles and load them with any label you expect to use. At home and at work, I keep extra spindles at the ready in my desk drawer for 30352 White address labels; Shipping Labels; 30347 small labels that I use for personal return address labels; 2-up file folder labels, and name badge labels to name a few. No, I don't work for DYMO. DYMO has to work for me.
CONNECT software is DYMO's equivalent of NEW COKE. (PS, my ratings are based on the old Label Software.)
