Good convenient printer with worst software

A simple question to whomever in charge of designing the new software: how do you configure different paper sizes on the twin outputs? do you really think it is easy for end users? Then, what is the value to have twin outputs? A great printer ruined by the user software.

Hello, this is Faith from DYMO Consumer Care. Thank you for contacting us regarding our DYMO LabelWriter 450 Twin Turbo. To switch printer sides and paper size on the new DYMO Connect software, please click the 'New' button in the top left corner. On the left size, you should see 'Printer' , You can change the printer side there and on the right hand size 'Label Type' where you can select the paper size for that side. Once you find your label size and select it, click 'open' in the bottom right corner. Expand the text box that surrounds the 'ABC' text and then double left click to enter a cursor and delete the 'ABC'. You can now enter the data needed upon your label. So disappointed with the new Software
on October 22, 2023
Posted by: ITMan
The new Dymo Connect software needs to be re-written from the ground up. The worst commercial software I have used in 25 years of IT (Systems Engineer). The previous software was so much faster more intuitive, and all-around better. Please include customer beta testers in any future software releases.

I've been using the old software and everything was going fine until I switched to the Connect Version. It sucks bad. Labels don't print correctly, the machines run don't print and keep on running are among the few issues encountered. I'm going back to the old software

So Disappointing

I am on my third DYMO labelWriter 450. For some reason, the left printer wraps the label around the roller and when you remove it, it damages the roller and the DYMO will not work. I have paid for three label makers over the last three years and am not ready to invest in a 4th! Of course I have had to toss the first two and now this one is headed for recycling bin. So very disappointed as it is wonderful when it works for only a year.

Hello, this is Tarun from DYMO Consumer Care. Thank you for providing your feedback for the LabelWriter 450 Twin Turbo. We apologize our product has not met your expectations. The LabelWriter 450 Twin Turbo has a 2 year warranty. We would be very happy to assist you in resolving any issues with our products. In order to clear the label jam, please follow these steps: a) Open the lid of the printer b) Grip top part of the front cover and lift it up c) Remove the cover by pulling it towards you d) Pull up the label guide e) Remove the label jam using a pair of tweezers or scissors. After a label jam I would recommend cleaning the print head and the roller of your LabelWriter. In order to do that, please follow these steps: 1. Please use a business card that is coated with an alcohol-solution such as ethanol, isopropyl, acetone or hand sanitizer 2. Take the card and feed it through the print roller 5-10 times making sure to cover all parts of the printer 3. Please allow 5 minutes for the printer to dry before testing. If you are still having issues with your printer, please do not hesitate to give our technical support team a call at 877-724-8324 Monday to Friday 9am-5pm EST as we will be happy to assist you. Please use the reference number 26023045. You can also use the ‘Contact us’ option under the support tab on the DYMO website.

Fantastically durable little machines
on February 27, 2024
Posted by: billhorvath
I've had two of these particular machines, and I bought the second for my wife's business because the first worked so well. They produce high-quality prints, are trivial to load and unload, and are rock-solid from a reliability perspective. Learning to use the latest version of the software wasn't as easy as it should have been, but it wasn't an insurmountable problem either.
Disclaimer: I write software and have done so professionally for a long time, which probably gives me an edge in figuring out the current release of Dymo's.
Pro tip for Dymo: expose an API (i.e., create an SDK in a popular language) for the printer's firmware that would allow third parties to write applications that can format labels and send them to a Dymo printer. You're in the label business (and in the marginal hardware business), not software: make it easier for the world to print more labels.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Buggy and Slow Support
on September 22, 2021

Like the reviewer below, I also have problems with the printer 'sleeping' and never waking up... that is, until I turn the unit over, unplug BOTH the power AND the USB, wait for 60 seconds, then plug everything back in. Only then with the blue PRINT button appear in the application. On top of that, there are still no drivers available for Big Sur (macOS 11.x), and it's been out of beta for 6 months.

Not printing 1/2 of Rx labels

We use this printer to print veterinary prescription labels. One side won’t print at all and today the “good” side only prints the bottom 1/2 of the label…. How do you fix this issue with the thermal printer??

Response from Dymo.comBy Vernie, DYMO, November 4, 2021
Hello, this is Vernie from DYMO Consumer Care. Thank you for providing us feedback for our LabelWriter 450 Twin Turbo. I am very sorry that our product has not met your expectations. I would like to inform you that we cannot guarantee the performance of other-branded labels with our printers. I would recommend to conduct a thorough cleaning of your printer. Also, please double-check the power adapter of your LabelWriter 450 as it needs an output of 24V 1.75 in order to have enough power to print labels out correctly. Should you be using a third-party software to print labels, please make sure that the label settings match with the ones inserted inside the printer. We are happy to assist in resolving all issues with any of our products. If you require further assistance, please contact us on the following email address: dymosm@newellco.com and use the reference number 34157697.
