Comfort says it all

Before I bought these, I had a competitor's headphones. I couldn't wear them for more than half an hour before my ears would start to hurt, and they were heavy and clunky. After spending so much on them, I was reluctant to buy another set of expensive headphones, but I need headphones for my classes, both to hear videos and to block our the noises from my family.
I finally bit the bullet and forked out for the Quiet Comfort Ultra.
First - the different modes are amazing. Aware mode is wild, because it's almost like sounds are channelled into the headphones for you. Quiet mode makes the rest of the world completely disappear, and combined with some ambient music has helped me focus on my post-grad homework for hours. I just wish there was an easier way to switch between modes than opening the app and navigating to the page for modes. A mode button or shortcut on the headphones would be helpful.
And COMFORTABLE! I have worn these all day (8+ hours) for five days straight attending a virtual conference, and my ears are not even a little sore. The ear cups are large enough to completely circle my ears, so they aren't squashed painfully against my glasses.
The battery life is shorter than some, but it's plenty unless you literally sleep with them in or something.
The app leaves something to be desired, because I have to delete the widget and reapply it every time the headphones are turned off, but that is more an inconvenience than a real complaint.
TL:DR these are the most comfortable headphones I've ever put on my head and the ANC is wildly good.

Good but not perfect

This is the 4 generation of Quietcomfort headphones that I have owned, and they are the best. Sound is excellent, noise cancellation superb. I use the mowing grass and all I hear is my music. That said, the controls are confusing and the power/bluetooth button is frustrating as heck. I cannot get the hang of turning them on and getting them to connect to the right bluetooth source Maybe with more practice I will get it, but for such a premium product I expected the controls to work better. Still, I'm not willing to go back to my old set.

There's Best, Then There's Best of the Best

I bought these headphones after visiting a national big box retailer. So I listened to which about to the what I thought were the best 3. I decided on the Ultra after reading reviews and in store testing. One week later I was off from DFW to Brazil via Miami. My first use was while an infant was uncomfortable on the aircraft. Let me just say that these are THE BEST since the invention of the wheel! When Ultra Bose says cancel, they mean it. These headphones are simply awesome!

5 star headphones, other than battery life

So, 4.5 stars is more accurate.
I cannot in good faith give this 5 stars, because the battery life on these headphones is downright pathetic. My old QC 3.5's would last nearly a week. These ones I can barely make it through two days.
Now, that said...
Everything else is excellent so far. In fact ANC was the #1 reason I went with Bose, and whoa boy, the reviews were right. The noise cancelling on these are A+. I don't think I've ever used or demoed another set of headphones that were this great.
Sound quality is very good. I'm not a big audiophile, I'm more of a gamer. Games sound great and the immersive setting is an improvement over the QC 3.5.

It's better than what some people say on youtube

I recently purchased these headphones as I was looking for a pair that I could use both while working at home and at the gym. So far, I've found that these headphones are great. Despite a YouTube reviewer claiming that they slip during workouts, I've worn them while doing exercises like barbell RDL, Lying Leg Curl, and Hip Thrust, and they have not slipped once. I have been enjoying them, and they are definitely worth it.
My advice is to be cautious of the reviews you see on YouTube. The best way to judge the quality of a product is by using your own judgment after purchasing it and trying it.
